So for a little bit now, ive been debating which camera body im going to get next.

My choices are:
5D2
7D
T2i

I really want to get the 5d2 but that would take me three more months to save up to get it. the 7D would take me another month and i have the funds now to get the T2i.

As of right now, I have the XSi to shoot with and im happy so there is no real urgency to get a new one. But for me, the IQ is kinda lacking. i know i can make any pictures better on post, but i want something as sharp and detailed as it can be before post. and thats where my want for a new camera body comes in.

Weather-sealing is important for me. The video capabilities is more or less just an added bonus since im really into still photography. i have a dedicated videocam or whatever you want to call it, Flip, if i want to do video but since i dont carry that around all the time, having video on the side is helpful too for something unexpected. another thing thats important for me is micro-adjust, for the lenses that i have. the lenses that i have now can be used on either full frame or crop sensors. the only one that wont be useful for a full frame is my 18-135mm IS (for sale) which is EFs, but everything else i can use for full frame.

so tell me, if you were in my scenario, what would you do??

If it were me looking for better IQ I would invest in some new glass. Get a decent set of glass which will help your XSi shine and when you upgrade bodies in the future you will have the glass to go with it.

Do you see the difference when you shoot with your 24-70 vs. your 75-300? The rebel series are perfectly capable of getting nice sharp shots with the right glass in front of them.

If that is what you really want save for the next 3 months and get it... if you purchase something that you are 'settling' on you will be kicking yourself later. Each of the cameras you listed improve as the list continues... while some have features the others do not.

Personally if I were in your shoes and I 'really wanted to get the 5d2' i would save and get it then sell your efs lens and replace with ef.

Good luck:)

yeah, the 24-70L breathe new life to the XSi, thats why i said im in no hurry to get a new camera body.

most of my lenses are EF, and the only EFs i have is the 18-135mm IS. The only reason the T2i is on the list is because of the fact that the IQ can rival the 7D, or so they say. but the real dilemma i have is between the 5D2 and the 7D. AF and video are better on the 7D, but the IQ is better on the 5D2....

as you can see from my gear list, the next lenses I want to buy are EF lenses. the UWA is only if i dont get rid of the crop body, but if i do go to full-frame, then that would change into 16-35L

Having just taken the plunge from a crop camera, a 40D, to the 5D2 I can honestly say you will enjoy the camera. But that being said, I think you would probably be better served to upgrade your glass first.

The 5D2 is an incredible camera, but it will very readily show any weaknesses in your lenses.

Just my opinion

Steve

but like i said earlier, T2i is only on the list because of the aforementioned 'hearsay'.

but since im coming from a rebel body, it seems such a waste to go to another rebel body. BUT i am giving it a chance. T2i users, please chime in this as well!

I was debating 5D2 and 7D for a few months and just picked up the 7D. Though I haven't had a LOT of time to play with it, I feel I made the right choice.

Frankly, the only thing the 7D lacked that I really wanted (compromised on) was FF. Everything I've read about weather sealing is that the 7D is good (as good as the 5D2 for most circumstnaces), not as good as the mkIII/IV, but that is to be expected.

I like the feel of the 7D far more than the 5D2 - without the grip. I haven't tried either body gripped yet, but in their natural form the 7D is insanely easier for me to hold.

I upgraded from a 350D, though, so pretty much anything was a major improvement.

As much as I hate to drive traffic to this guy's site these days, this is a good read:

http://canonfieldreviews.com/7d-1-weather-sealing/ (external link)

It's primarily focused on the 7D (obvious from the title), but discusses the 5D2 as well.

You don't say what you shoot, that could have a bearing on the choice of bodies.

true. thanks.

well, since im fairly new to DSLR but not to photography, i havent found my niche yet. so as of right now, i shoot anything and everything. I.e. landscapes, my sibling's babies, cars, racing, dabbled into some aviation, and everything in between.
