50d Problem

I have a 50d that I bought right when they came out a year and a half ago. A few days ago I went out and shot with it no problem at all. The next day I put my card in and it said something along the lines of. "Card not formated to this camera." I then tried to format it with the 50d and it would not work. I know my card isn't messed up because i can use it in my mark II and it also does it for all of my other cards. Can Anyone help me out?

Bodies- 1d Mark II, 50d + Grip
Lenses- 70-200 F/2.8L, 17-35 F/2.8L, 85 F/1.8
Lights- 430 EXII

maybe try formatting in computer, then try in your camera again.

Do other cards work in your 50? Check for a bent pin.

Not more to say. But I would check for the pins first.

Take out the cf card and look into the slot. It should be obvious if it is a bent pin. Fixing can be about £200-£250 in UK.

Yea its a bent pin. Has anyone ever fixed it themselves? If so how would I go about doing this?

I think the most safe thing would be to send it to canon.

play it safe and send it to canon. you dont want that bent pin to break off.

I've always wondered how often this issue arises. Could it have anything to do with a cheap CF card with loose tolerances? What kind of CF card was the OP using?
