Does a strong dollar mean lower camera prices are on the way?

I just saw this article (Euro Hits 10-Month Low (external link)) in the WSJ -- and though it is about the Euro vs. the Dollar, the implication is that the dollar is stronger worldwide.

I find it unbelievable that, with the way the government is inflating the money supply (which should make the dollar worthless) the dollar is still strong. Jim Cramer (from Mad Money) made an amusing comment about that the other day. He pointed out that, because many of the world's currencies are in much worse trouble than the dollar, then, by comparison, the dollar is strong. That means that international investors will keep on investing in dollars, which keeps the price up even if the government is running the printing presses like there is no tomorrow. "In the land of the blind, the near sighted man is king" he said.

Sorry for rambling on, but I am hoping this all means more affordable Japanese lenses here in the U.S.A.

Well our loonie is now on par with the american greenback I am hoping to see a drop in the price of everything but I think it's a pipe dream, retailers are going to ride the high and rake in as much profit from it as they can.

I'd settle for having the strong dollar reduce shipping costs. I've run out of Sainsbury Red Label in the house and the price+shipping is bad enough when viewed in Pounds but just gets silly once I convert to Dollars.

There are a hundred reasons to raise prices (cost of materials, labor costs, the color of the moon, what I ate on Tuesday) but few, maybe only one, reason(s) to lower them (customers have stopped buying and ummmm). Canon seems not be able to supply the market with many lenses (24 TSE mkII anyone? I have had one on order [In Canada] for two months now). So they would be mad to lower the prices at least on those ones that sell out. I would not pin my hopes on price drops but it would be great if they did.
