Anyone who has these two working properly together please let me know...

I'm not that surprised as the metering system has been changed to iFCL but its bit disappointing as the good'ol Sigma has worked really well with all the other EOS bodies I've owned.

I guess it won't work with the 7D either?

Oh well, time for an upgrade... ;)

Go to the Simga site you can get this flash chipped to work with the new canon cameras. I got one that needed the update for the 50D.

Yup send it in, it won't fully work in ETTL mode on the 50D and 7D as well.

You'll have to contact Sigma with the model and serial number. To clarify, they don't "rechip" and haven't for 15+ years. The electronics have eproms with flash firmware that needs updated to make it compatible with the newer models.

Some models can be updated and others can't. Mine could. It was a free service that only cost me shipping one way. Turn around was less than two weeks from the Midwest to New York and back in the US.

Sigma gets bashed by a lot of people. My experience with them has been stellar. Great service and great products.

Jim

According to Sigma, my EF-500 DG Super will not work with my 7D and Sigma cannot update it to make it work, either.
