A local photo store put on a Photo Day yesterday. Canon Canada was on hand with almost all their lenses and bodies available for demo. Hand over your drivers licence and pick your poison, 30 minutes of bliss with the lens of your dreams!
Start easy with the 300mm f4 L is. Shoot a few portraits of the models on site and marvel at the sharpness and hand holdability. On to the 400 DO is. Almost heaven!
Relatively light weight, hand holdable and sharp as a tack. Even attracts some stares due to the size. One lady guessed that due to it's size, it MUST cost more than $800...she was looking at point and shoots.
And then..the 600mm f4..this beast is heavy.. sturdy monopod required!! No birds around, guess I'll have to borrow another model, but from quite a distance.
Must give back..need licence to get home, but I could walk I guess..
Thanks Canon Canada, a wonderful experience!
Is there a pill available to reduce"L" envy?

There is a pill for that. It’s called a wife. She will pull me away without any hesitation.

Man, I envy that. I can go into B&H and try out any of the lenses, but not like that.

I was also wondering why EOS Magazine is published in the UK and there is no US version of that. I do subscribe to it but they give courses and other things I can't take advantage of.

As far as the license goes, I have a few old ones. They can have them all for the 300 f2.8 or better.:)

Wow that sounds very dangerous, they should have taken your credit card from you.. I am very gullable and an impulse shopper, I would have just bought it for the hell of it.

Nice... !! Id love to do that! Freaking Canon... like drug pushers.. "here, try it free this time around and if you like it, you know where we are" lol

I thought i saw a canon dealer standing around the park trying to get people to try some "L" lenses.. then a few Nikon reps rushed him and beat him up and took his "spot". The Canon Crips and the Nikon Bloods!

HAHAHA, man this is one of the funniest comments (and damn true) I have read on these forums.

Thanks for the chuckle.
