Hi there,

I got my hands on a Samyang 1.4 (first I thought they sold scooters) and the thing is a gem. Focusing is NOT such an issue as you may think, provided you have a nice, bright viewfinder, such as the one on the 7D.

Bokeh is nice and creamy - maybe not as pretty as on the sigma 30mm 1.4 - but the longer focal of the samyang helps as well.

I won't do a review of the thing, as others have already, but I can telly ou that if you appreciate a nice, metal & glass, entirely mechanical optical instrument, you'll love it.

Interesting that they are able to produce quality stuff from what I'm hearing. Has anyone seen or used the wide 14mm (i think) 2.8 Samyang?

By the way is it possible to add a chip to these lens? Not for confirmation purposes though it would help but to quickly check the exposure etc...

There's an archive thread for these lenses, Rokinon, Samyang, etc., with some pretty good images. I have the Rokinon version, and added a focus confirm chip to it. Makes it a lot easier to focus, but I haven't tested it under seriously low-light conditions yet.
