There's an eclectic, for lack of a better word, "junkyard" in Jerome, AZ. Took a break from my usual landscape shooting and, after paying the small entrance fee, found these subjects rusting away. Not my typical subject matter, but gave it a go anyway. The black vehicle had a posterization effect applied in post. I found the "message" in the first image (shattered headlamp, Federal) sort of ironic at the time...

The entrance fee was worth it!

I still have quite a few more to get through. The vehicles were pretty much stacked very close together...made it difficult/near impossible to get a "clean" shot of an entire car or truck. As I said, not my usual genre...just something different to take a well-needed break from standing in streams all day. :D

Jerome is a very interesting place...

Even if the whole vehicle was able to be shot, I was trying to convey something of a message in the images, which required a closer crop of each. In the first, there's the 'broken' headlamp and 'Federal' in the image...my own take on the government but viewers can glean from that what they will. In the second, even though the truck has obviously seen better days, the new plant growth signified just the opposite.

Jerome is a pretty cool little place...some nice off-the-beaten-path places to eat, as well as the art galleries and the "junkyard" up the hill. Sort of a rustic Boulder, CO. :D

Jerome has really become an eccentric little "art" town now.. waaaaaaaaaaaay different from the mining town it was.. I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

I like the photos, and I get what you are converying in them, I just like old vehicles :D

Thanks. I'm waiting for some decent weather one of these days so I can shoot my 1965 Mercedes 230SL...
