My son works with a professional photographer. When shooting a portrait indoors with flash he has been told to use aperture priority with an aperture of 11. When he does so the results aren’t good, due to the fact exposure times range from ½ to 2 seconds. The camera automatically compensates the flash to +2. The professional is using a pro Nikon camera.
Is there a reason why the pro Nikon camera works at this setting, but the 40D won’t.
The in built flash and speedlite work fine if camera set to portrait, auto or shutter speed priority.
Also, I am a little puzzled by the following
If camera shutter speed is set to 1/60 it selects an aperture of 5.6 and produces a perfect picture.
If the aperture is set at 5.6 it selects a shutter speed of 2 seconds, with the obvious poor results.
Any help or explanations would be very appreciated.
Ijon
