any one know how this might be fixed ? i have installed a set of Codec for windows 7 but apple QT just freezes.

failing that which other MOV players would people recomend ?

I have a codec for Windows Media Player that will play the MOV files. And it plays the better than QT does! If you don't get many replies here I'd recommend asking one of the mods to move it to the video, processing or computer section by hitting this button

You can use Zoombrowser to watch mov files. It also has a basic editor and will convert .mov files to .avi if needed for other applications. Zoombrowser is on the software cd that came with your Canon camera. There are others like the VLC player you can download too.

Download and install two things: Haali media splitter, FFdshow. With those two things, you'll be decoding everything in no time.
