Steady hands with the 70-200 2.8 IS Mk II

I just aquired my 70-200 2.8 IS MK II in a trade for the Mk I this week. After some test shots around the house, I can say that I'm pleased with the results. This lens is expensive for sure and some will turn away at the price premium($2500.00 USD) and get the MK I. The MK I version of this lens is still a great value and will continue to hold it's value for some time. Is it worth it to me? I think so. The IQ mated to the current flagship 1Ds MK III makes it worth the extra donuts.

My testing in the images below is done handheld. No tripods were used during this test. The reason for my testing is to see how much I can push the 4 stop IS w/o blur. I was able to shoot this lens at 1/15 sec at ISO 3200 w/o getting blur. Honestly, I would never shoot this SS unless I needed to but, the subject has to be static.

Here are the pics.

1) EXIF: 2.8,165mm, ISO 200, SS 1/250.

Now we get to the nitty gritty of pushing ISOs with this lens. These are all handheld.

1)f 2.8, 110mm, ISO 640, SS 1/20.

Ah Nutella...the best!.

I like the dog image best ! He's really cute ! Colors look great and overall a great IQ in the image . There is way too many test for me to worry about which is best anymore and way too many experts here that will argue too quick of which way is best and which is not so mainly i just look at a really good image now and look for the IQ done at the lower ISO settings that really pop or really snag your eye . To me that little dog does it for me !

nice set!! except numba 5. That black speck with a red thingy on the left. Not that good really ^^ also, I'm hungry for nutella now.

I know you're joking but, if Canon can be consistent with the next 24-70, I may get rid of my Nikon gear. I do love the colors of Canon.

LOL! I had to use the camera to see how well the lens would pick up black deatil. This lens can do it!

Yuk Number 5 is horrible....
