What music do you use? Any issue with licensing for the music?

Lots a places to get music. I prefer background styles - instrumentals w/o vocals.

FREE Stuff @ http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/ (external link)

Another option is ebay. Often times I've found close-out deals on Royalty Free Music. You can get a large selection with licence pretty cheap.

Lol, I was just looking into royalty-free music. Just watch out that a lot of companies' royalty-free music doesn't apply to the web. ("This free use EXCLUDES local-only TV, regional-only TV, public and community access TV, closed circuit TV, web broadcasts, advertising commercials or promos, infomercials, radio broadcast use, and any TV broadcast outside the U.S. These uses require a paid FPM sync and master license.")

I make a ProShow slideshow for all my clients. They like the multimedia aspect of it, and they get excited to pop it in for their friends when they come over. Even if they order an album, it less "intimidating" for them (or so i've heard). They don't have to put on white gloves and worry about spilling things on it- They can just sit back and watch.

My slideshows go for about 15 minutes, and I give one to the couple and one to each set of parents. Additional copies I make available in their gallery, and I usually sell 3 or 4 additional copies to extended family and friends.

I blogged my reasoning behind why I love Showit Web. I'm not a SIW affiliate either ;)

I use Proshow,
I have been really happy with it. I find it versatile and create DVDs and Web movies.
I am not a fan of the animoto slide shows, IMO they are too much about the slide show and not the photography.
I have not used Showit, so have no opinion there.
I do like http://www.triplescoopmusic.com/Default.aspx (external link)
I get all of my slideshow and DVD music there.

Really? I guess I could have been more clear that any other product out there would look like crap for web viewing -- and that the help is with the initial responding email to inquiring clients. In other words, there's no other software that I could do this with so easily and have the end result look so good ;)

oh, I guess I took the post as more that you should show entire weddings. By your post here I half expected to see "I like SIW because... " or something like that. I checked out your videos and yes, they look great. quick question, your videos have a link that goes to their website to purchase DVDs. is that an option? I would not want it too.
I will have to admit, I don't put flash directly on my site because my site is a wordpress blog and not very flash friendly. I haven't had time to figure it out. i currently upload them to youtube and have that ugly youtube logo. on them. I will have to test out proshows flash output. Last I recall I thought it was pretty good though.

Gotcha ;)

I'd love to see another slideshow making software be as quick/easy as SIW that makes as good looking slides as SIW. I never have up until now.

And why wouldn't you use the buy it option? I sell mine for about $800 and get purchases for them all the time. It's a nice money maker :)

sorry for totally hijacking this thread. hopefully the OP finds the conversation interesting. lol
I currently sell a DVD but after I make the slideshow it is really easy to just burn a DVD. I would like to control the sale and branding of the presentation both of the purchasing process and packaging. I also typically sell it in the studio. don't really see the need.
With proshow, it takes me very little time to create a show. for an average wedding it takes about 20 minutes and exporting takes less then 5min.

Oh! Gotcha ;) I thought you meant you wouldn't want to sell them at all.

With the more my business grows, I'm becoming a huge fan of outsourcing. What SIW does with my slideshows looks better than what I was doing, and it's another thing off my plate. I've got my first kid coming and want to be in front of the computer as little as possible. I outsource what I can and this is one of those things. If it were $50 for a finished product that sucked, I wouldn't do it. But, like I said, it looks better than what I was sending out before -- and I hate small tedious things even if they take me twenty minutes. TBH, I HATE dropping things off at the post office/looking up addresses/making covers/printing things... I'm SUPER lazy and want to do as little post work as possible :p
