I had this issue right after flashing my 5dmk2.
The video in liveview was jerky and I got a really bad jello effect.

Just go into the menu change the recording modes from 30p, to 24p. Then record a video. Stop and change back to 30p and record a video.

This fixed the jerkyness I was experiencing. Turned off the camera, and turned it back on. Then everything was fine.
Hope this solves it. Now everything seems fine.

Man am I ever glad I read this

It didn't work the first time, but the second time I tried it I tapped my foot at exactly 36.125 beats per minute while staring at the sun with one eye. Then it worked perfect.

Mostly because I was blind in one eye

Sounds like the code to unlock the "mature" content in Grand Theft Auto.

That's weird.

I didn't think you have the 30p option after upgrading to the latest 2.0.4 firmware?

There's only the 24 and 25fps versions of 1920x1080 and the 25fps 640x480.

Did you roll your firmware back first?

I can only see the three options I have listed above when I go into Live View/ Movie func set, wheel down to Movie rec. size...

I do not normaly bother with Video but was curiouse to try it.

I tryed this morning using 1920x1080 at 24 fps- NTSC

I was taking a panning shot at quite a slow speed, I was using 24-105.

The ones I took at 24mm looked quite good, when I tryed at 70mm they looked quite jerky on playback on the computer and worse at 105mm.

You do get that option of 30 fps in NTSC playback mode.

NTSC:

  • 1920×1080 : 30 fps (changed - actual 29.97 fps)
  • 1920×1080 : 24 fps (added - actual 23.976 fps)
  • 640×480 : 30 fps (changed - actual 29.97 fps)
PAL:
  • 1920×1080 : 25 fps (added - actual 25.0 fps)
  • 1920×1080 : 24 fps (added - actual 23.976 fps)

Matthew,

You must have a Pal based camera to get those options. It's NTSC here in the USA.

Correction, you must have Pal selected instead of NTSC.

Ahhhhh.....yes.

Well, this will be of no help whatsoever...but under PAL...all options work beautifully.

Hope you guys get it sorted. It's really a beautiful thing when it's working well.
