If you own one of the larger telephoto lenses, you know what I'm talking about. I always found the leather cap/hood a little cumbersome on my 300 f2.8, but when I got the 200 f2, it really started to annoy me. It slides and gets caught under the lens foot because the lens itself is shorter than the other telephotos. I was really wrestling with it one time that I tried to quickly remove it to get a shot.

Anyway, this is a plug for the Don Zeck lens caps. I hadn't heard about these until recently and just bought two of them (same size for my 200 f2 and 300 2.8). They may seem expensive for what they are, but when you consider what we pay for these lenses, what we'd typically pay for filters, and the aggravation that can be avoided, they seem well worth the money. The lens caps can be installed and removed with the hood in either position. They are nice and snug and protect the front element while being so easy and convenient to install and remove. Good-bye aggravating leather covers!

I just received the Don Zeck lens cap for my 400mm DO, and I must say it's amazing!
Miles away better than the leather lens cap.
Fits perfectly, lightweight & very-very convenient.

I absolutely recommend this Don Zeck lens cap.
