Or rather, the lack of them. Sparrows need hedgerows to survive and you are cutting them all down to widen your roads and build subdivisons, while all or old family farms are going under and all the old fencelines are now growing into hedgerows, which the sparrows love. Been bird watching for more years than I care to remember and never once have I found or heard of, a house sparrow nesting in a hedge.
