Rather than double post, here's a link to a shot with the T2i and 17-55mm IS f2.8 that shows a relatively clean auto ISO shot at 3200 ISO:

https://photography-on-the.net …read.php?t=234558&page=64

It's the headshot of a girl with a lip piercing.

Thanks. I'm a simpleton in the nuts and bolts of this stuff.

This is one from over the weekend. My church asked me to take photos of an event they had for a bunch of young girls. I ALWAYS have a difficult time shooting since I dont have control over back drop and such. The ceilings are 35' high so bounce flash is difficult. I am showing this picture as I purchased a mini softbox for my flash. I had to still adjust the flash
-2/3 but I was so impressed with the softness of the flash. Really happy with how this turned out. This was shot in JPG. I took 578 pix so i didnt want to to any post processing. Just hoping this will help someone else

Very nice may I ask what softbox you are using? I usually bounce flash or just turn it down a whole lot.

A lot of them have to be conformists at that age. Here's another shot with the T2I on auto ISO, this time with a 70-300mm DO IS at ISO 320, 1/400s @ f7, 275mm. cropped about 1/3.

Ignore me, I'm just a leaf!

The second image is cropped to 28 percent, ISO 200, 1/500s @ f8. Where the anole wants to hide, the butterfly just lets everyone have a good look.

wonderful shots, are these pictures from the 70-300mm DO lens? I think the contrast is a little bit low, or natural light condition was not optimal when you took those pictures.

it looks cool, but the focus is a little bit weird, I like it better if the focal point is on the spider and spread out evenly.
