@Wolfy and @Yahoo,

Why are you selling your 55-250s??? What's going on on the T2i ranks here! :) At any rate, GLWS!

Rafa.

Thanks Al, now I see the difference. That seems nice, and not much more expensive than the 'wafer' types, but much more useful.

Thanks again,
Rafa.

The Rf-602 can also act as a remote.

Rivest, do you own this RF-602? The web page does not list Flash compatibility!!! Can you confirm if there is some included paper with this info? I have access to a 430EX (I'm sure this will work) a 430EX II (which is strangely NOT included in any of the Yongnuo hotshoes) and a 420EX which I believe should work! Though not sure.

Also, is ETTL possible with the Rf-602? I really prefer ETTL than manaully setting all the flashes, can you provide us with your workflow?

Thanks,
Rafa.

Rafa, have a read here : https://photography-on-the.net …t=727060&highlight=rf-602

The Rf-602 are off camera flash receiver/transmitter. They do not do any ttl. They also act as a shutter remote, which is rated at 300feet.

Ask if you have some questions (either me or google :p)

I also have the rf-602. It does work very well, but for long exposures it could get a bit tiresome as you have to hold the button down to keep the shutter open. Unless I'm missing a setting....

The RF-602s are diggity dope. I've triggered my flash from a good 100 feet away with no problems. Not a problem through walls either. Highly recommend them, especially for the price.

Yahoo, did you go for the 'cool' white balance on purpose? I love the pictures and their composition, they even have a great mood with that off-blue white balance... just wondering if it was intentional or just a fluke?

Rafa.

Intentional, I tend to mess around with curves even though I tell myself not to.

Most definitely Peter you'll get camera shake unless you have a stone-sturdy tripod! Even with one as strong, you will probably need to force the locks too much.

Mirror lock rises the mirror first (on one shutter press) and then then takes the picture on a second shutter press. The shake you introduce by pressing the shutter is much more pronounced than the one you'll get by the mirror going up. A remote shutter, either wired or wireless, is the perfect solution!

Another option if you don't want to shoot remote is to set the 2 second timer, in that way, the camera has time to stabilize between the moment you press the shutter button and the moment the picture is taken. All that is avoided with the remote shutter and you can take pictures more rapidly and at the moment you want them to (for instance, a bird just entered your shot, or a plane is about to come into frame).

I only use my remote shutter now (house made, I'll take pictures of it) and its much better than any other option.

Rafa.

Great thanks for the info. I am glad I stumbled with this wireless shutter release in Craiglist. I am glad I bought I did'nt that know how important it is. Thanks again. I will look into other opion you mention like 2 sec timer.

My camera just came today and so far I have only used it in Auto mode. Still figuring out all of the controls on the camera. Even in auto I am very pleased with the pics. I cant wait to get out and takes some really good pics but I just had to post my first couple of pics :) Here are a couple of shots of my favorite subjects :) I posted the first one because I thought it was cool that I caught the nictitating membrane or third eyelid on my parrot. It is the milky white part covering the lower portion of his eye :)

Itz, those are nice parrots. Good first pictures.

A tip, one way you can learn is by analyzing the exit info of your pictures. That is ISO, shutter speed, aperture and more.

Also, a mode you can try is the P mode. Camera will do a lot for you but you'll be able to select your focus point at least. Oh and you should take at least two hours and read the hole manual. You will learn a lot.

Have fun shooting!
