Peter, bear in mind that that was in no way a recipe of settings... for indoor, it more likely ISO 1600, f3.5, 1/8th! :)

Rafa.

Thanks Rafa, I wonder only why it won't move...I thought there was something wrong with t2i and thanks for clearing that to me.

Ploo no worries thanks for the input I will definitely try higher iso I am still kind of learning how to operate my t2i.

I love to read the thread from the very start but I think I would finish reading the manual and the book of David Busch first and check the end pages of this thread, Then maybe with more free time I would read the thread from the start. Thank you everyone for corrections, tips.

Peter

I tried to see what I could pull out of the shadows, but couldn't get much here. This is where having a big old raw file comes in handy! You can do a hell of a lot with one of those.
I saw this came on the old "Fat Albert" show. It was called "buck-buck". I never saw kids playing it in Korea, but no doubt they do...

Next week I'll have a little time and I'll see what i can do with the RAW files.

I'm looking for harsh criticism of my photos - tell me how to improve, I will be grateful.

Hmm....just got offered my first paid gig.....Senior Portraits...

I have to admit, I'm not really sure I should take it as I'm more of a hobbyist with possible future aspirations.

Also, hold your breath for me. Just found a stellar deal on a 70-200mm f4L IS. Only drawback is that I'm 2nd in line. So here's hoping the first sale doesn't go!!

IMO if you think you're technically up to it, or you could be by the time of the gig, then go for it. I've just accepted my first paid gig, a wedding, and I'll have to spend a lot on additional lighting gear and then work hard getting to know how to use it. But it'll all be worth it.

If you wait until you're totally confident about the gig before accepting your first then you'll never do one. There's a first time for everyone, including the seasoned pros.

Ya, be careful accepting a paid gig. Like Peter said, you need to feel very comfortable with the shoot. I do free shoots for friends and it's amazing how much more difficult it is shooting for clients than it is your family.

Make sure you have some nice strobe equipment and practice practice practice so the portraits will turn out great!

Luckily for me they're wanting an outdoor, natural shoot. I'm thinking of using reflectors and all natural light. I'm gonna try and con the wife into letting me do a test shoot before hand.

Wolfy, I think that more than a test shoot is needed before accepting paid gig. My first "paid gig" was for Halloween and had plenty of "test" shot before it. You need to be 100% sure you will deliver what they paid for.

But you're the best to know what you are worth ;)

Once I've got the lighting gear I need I'll be doing LOTS of practising for at least two months beforehand. And I've arranged to go along with a pro as "second shooter" to see how she does it. Anything less and I'd feel very nervous going into this.

Have you checked out the Judge Joe Brown thread? According to him, you can't be a legitimate pro with anything less than a 1 series body! ;)

I guess we might have had an influence ;)

Wofly,

I too feel the way Peterbj7, if you wait for everything to be perfect, you'll never start! You need to do your best to make sure you are ready, perhaps inform your clients this is your first time and give them a nice discount (that way you are telling them: don't expect Steven Spielberg quality... sort of :) ), and go for it!!!

By the way, there is a thread in people named 'seniors 2010'... you should take a look there to see what others are achieving and see if you think you are up to some of those standards. There are some decent fellows, some are really lacking, and then, there are the masters!!! There is a lady there that has some incredible skills, and, she offers advice and answers questions to all who ask.

Go on and take a look!
Rafa.

Wolfy, if its so stellar, perhaps you can offer a bit more to get preference? At any rate, I hope you get the deal!
