Nice capture... I'm always fascinated by the translucency of objects (ears, fruit, rise walls, etc.) and when it shows on the subject, I always like the picture :)

Rafa.

Thanks for the comments guys. The image underneath the apple is actually not a reflection. It's another apple i stood this one on top of for the picture so it looks like a reflection. The hardest part was being able to control the light spill from the flash. The light falls off pretty rapidly when using max sync speed in order to get a black background. Still trying to perfect my lighting skills. Great thread btw.

Have you checked out the Judge Joe Brown thread? According to him, you can't be a legitimate pro with anything less than a 1 series body! ;)

Well Judge Joe can give me one of his. :D

Wofly,

I too feel the way Peterbj7, if you wait for everything to be perfect, you'll never start! You need to do your best to make sure you are ready, perhaps inform your clients this is your first time and give them a nice discount (that way you are telling them: don't expect Steven Spielberg quality... sort of :) ), and go for it!!!

By the way, there is a thread in people named 'seniors 2010'... you should take a look there to see what others are achieving and see if you think you are up to some of those standards. There are some decent fellows, some are really lacking, and then, there are the masters!!! There is a lady there that has some incredible skills, and, she offers advice and answers questions to all who ask.

Go on and take a look!
Rafa.

THanks for the heads up. I'll be heading there shortly!!

Wolfy, if its so stellar, perhaps you can offer a bit more to get preference? At any rate, I hope you get the deal!

Rafa.

It's a f4L IS for $600!

Rivest, I plan to do as much texting/practicing as I can beforehand!! :D

This came about as "word of mouth", they heard about and then saw some of my "work", and they obviously think I'm up to the task. I just want to make sure that I am in fact up to the task. I've seen some of the local work, and feel that I can at least do as well. There are a few pros around here who do GREAT work, but not everyone wants to pay that much or can afford that much.

You might want to run the serial number by the police to make sure it isn't hot at that price:)

Took this at dawn from my hotel room. You can just see the sun coming up in the buildings.

Absolutely beautiful picture!!! The perfectly clean sky brings the buildings even more into the frame, and the lighting is just superb! Thanks for sharing,

Rafa.

Sunset shot with the 70-200 mm f/4 lens. (1/100 sec, f/14, ISO 800 at 200mm on a tripod). This is not an HDR.

Fantastic image Trulie, truly! :) You say it's not HDR, but did you chang the hue of the sky and water independently? Or did non of the reddish sky bled into the waters?

That's just curiosity, the image is breathtaking whatever you did! And the lonely boater adds to the mood... thanks for sharing!!!
Rafa.

Thanks Rafa...I used lightroom 3. Unfortunately by the time the kayaker rowed by the sun had already dropped below the trees...you can barely see the top of it. The trees were blocking the red from reflecting so the whole lake was essentially in the shade...grayish/yellowish color. I used 2 separate graduated filters for this image in lightroom 3...one on the water and one on the sky. It helped bring out the colors of both....but the trick was keeping the trees from blacking out. If I changed contrast or exposure too much (to bring out the colors) then it would have lost all of the trees. I wanted the whites to still show up and the hints of bushes along the bank.

Guys, I have a scoop for you. Wolfy is looking to buy a 70-200 F4.

I guess we might have had an influence ;)

+1, the cheapest used here is @500.00 craiglist. You guys are bad influence :)

I found lightroom 3 ( for students and prof something like that) for about 70 bucks.
