Inch,

I have a suggestion, if I may. Do you have anywhere you could upload an original CR2 file? A web hosting space, esnips, or any other place that would allow a file sharing of 20+MB per file? We could take a look at the original RAW files and see more in depth.

It's very odd that both cameras have the same problem if they exchanged it. Did you write down the serial number to ensure they didn't sent you back with the same old camera?

Rafa.

Yeah that was the first thing I checked.

I don't know about the web hosting space I'll think about that.
I could always e mail it to you but that would only work if your account can receive files of that size.
I've also considered that there may be a problem with viewing CR2 files on my PC but if that was the case it doesn't explain why the macro shots are razor sharp or why the blurred photos still look blurred on the LCD screen on the camera.

@Hardcore, I agree with the joy of having to do nothing at all to the picture. It means one nailed the framing, the exposure, the moment, all the settings, and, of course, the campture! :) You shot is lovely and your girl has always that bright expression, she is clearly 'learning' from the world, which is quite nice. On my monitor I see it a bit pinkish... just a tad! Perhaps someone else can confirm that, but it's a very minor issue for an otherwise perfect picture. How you are doing those framings at 135mm is a mystery to me. I have trouble getting more than the nose at 70mm! :)

@Yahoo... what reflection did you eliminate with the polarizing filter on that picture? I see a strong blue cast... are the framing of the wheels really cyan? There something with the color that is a bit off. Also, I would have loved that the whole background were that brick wall, but the door just behind it does become a bit distracting as Rivest said.

Rafa.

You seem to handle manual focus well.

The only question is how many times it took you to get the perfect focus :P ?

He was doing his job. I think he makes the picture better though.

I like that plane picture... and I agree he makes the picture!! I would have liked an inverse one also: him in focus and the plane OOF in the background!

I agree, it's more interesting with him in it.

Inch, subscribe to esnips: http://www.esnips.com/ (external link)

That's what I use to upload big files! But I agree... if they are OOF on the LCD screen, little point on doing this. I don't know what to tell you... you are the first to report this here, it's extremely odd to have it in two separate bodies with two different lenses (3 now with the replaced KIT as well) :(

Rafa.

I know, from what I've been told it's rare enough to have one faulty body let alone two which is why I'm so bemused. If it's not the body then what the hell is it?
The only other possibility I can think of is that the store has received a whole batch of faulty bodies so it doesn't matter how many times I change it they'll all be like that.
I think that's very unlikely though....

Inch, do you know anyone close to you that could help you inspect the camera to see if there is some problem?

By the way, it haven't occurred to me... are you placing any form of filter in front of the lens? Some cheap filters are worse than shooting through glass... can you remove all filters for any further tests? Also, make sure your glass is clean, there are some reports of some lenses coming extremely dirty off factory.

Rafa.

To be honest I'm not really sure . It was my first time out with the CPL so I was just messing around with it. Yeah the wheels are aqua/cyan. I did mess around with curves and reduced the opacity so that's probably what you're seeing. Good eye.

No I haven't used filters, most of the test shots were taken indoors.
I'll check the lenses for dirt but again it would be odd if all three lenses were that dirty.

With regards to the inspection, I will probably end up taking it to my photography tutor's house as there aren't many other options left open to me.

Actually, only once with the split screen prism.

I tried a brightly lit macro shot with the last body and it looked amazing, but I don't know how that helps me because what do I do when I don't want a macro shot?

Thanks for adding that photo, actually I was going to ask if anyone else could add a 100% crop so it compare it to mine.
Preferably a landscape or a general indoor shot of a kitchen/lounge etc.

Ok. Here is a landscape photo you can use for a more direct comparison. This was at 55mm shooting a farm about 500 yards away at ISO 100, 1/250 shutter, f/10. This is a 100% crop out of an unedited photo right from the camera:

And here is the full shot the crop was taken from:
