hope posting this much isn't a problem.

Ah, I see what you are wrestling with now. I guess the "instant" lens correction isn't really able to compensate, huh? Certainly your work makes it look a lot better than the original...
About light-room, you mean it deleted the original from Flickr, or from your hard-drive? I hope the former and not the latter!
[edit: this comment was on the pic before the one above--ya snuck one in on me while I was composing!)

@DH22... I really like your exterior pictures!! That last one with the dust in it, that looks like a dirty front element. The sensor dust appears black (it does not let light through) while water droplets (or, perhaps, moisture if you fog the glass with your breath) tend to leave that type of white particles. Try cleaning it with a moistened optic cloth.

Thanks Rafa. I'm relieved its not my sensor. I've got some pre moistened zeiss lens wipes I use but they always leave behind some residue. I'm going to pick up some lens tissue tomorrow.

DH22, I use those EXACT tissues, they don't leave residue if you follow the instructions carefully :) ... use the folded tissue for the first wipe in order to charge the lens with the Isopropanol, then extend the tissue and wipe until there is no residue.

Those wipes have been my saviors more than once!
Rafa.

Createsean,

You are not going to like me for saying this, but I believe the originals were better :) ... part of the beauty of those UWA is precisely the convergent vertical lines... as long as you have them balanced from left to right, I really think the eye is able to perceive that distortion and understand it for the straight vertical lines they are. Now, for people, that is a different matter, people up close really look terrible with the UWA, but for architecture I like the look.

You can minimize the effect by not tilting the camera, point it straight to the horizon, but, then you probably need to crop the lower half of the picture.

At any rate, you have made me crave for a UWA so I hate you for it :) . Nice pictures!

Rafa.

Shuttersnap, that set really has brought a whole new level to this thread, thanks for sharing with us. They are great images that convey powerful feelings and dramatic conditions! Knowing that it is a 'dressed rehearsal' only provides the relief that there were no actual injuries but takes away none of the strength of the images! Excellent skills!!

Hope there is more to come in the future (hopefully never real ones though! :( ),
Rafa.

@muay, Those boxing pictures really tell a story... are they all with natural light? They have an off-white tone and really subdued saturation on the skin tones, but I take it that was probably intentional. I am wishing for a extreme closeup of a face, but that's just my obsession with movie-like crops of faces :)

@ranger50, I was going to say that given the whiteness of the snow, I would have preferred the images in color instead of b&w when I saw the right portion of the first image showing some greens and the fence in color. These are both color images, right? If they are, its amazing how you managed almost B&W images out there. The feeling of cold and loneliness is strong. I would have tried a post production coloring the lake blue to provide contrast but I like them as they are. The only thing I'm missing is, on the second image, the end of the tree to the right, just across the stream... since that is probably the 'main' tree, I would have liked to see its tip. Thanks for sharing, hope you bring many more winter images to our thread.

Rafa.
