Rafapolit: Are you saying that you see no difference in the seasons? There must be a slight difference.

Also, as a surfer, I've read about surfing in Peru for years (in fact, they claim to have invented it...which might be partially true by the way they ride the waves while standing in those fishing boats made of reeds), but I don't think I've heard about Ecuador and surfing. There has to be some good surfing on the coast, right?

Thank you. bw!

Mike, I live about 2' South of Latitude 0°0' 0"... so my portion of the earth does not get closer to the sun on summer and away in winter. The sun also is not slanted towards the south as in the northern hemisphere nor to the north as in the southern... the 23° of rotation happen equally to both sides during the course of the year. So... the slight seasons we have are the ones governed by things happening because of the seasons elsewhere: the currents shifting because of the weathers in the northern and southern pole gives us slight differences in different months, we have a slightly more rainy season... but no, we don't have any seasons at all! :)

There is surfing here, and recently there has been an explosion in parasailing (or what's it called, the surfers that use kites?) but its not terribly widespread yet.

Rafa.

There is no limit to the size you want to make. As you increase the size, your viewing distance also increases. I ignore almost all of the dpi rules for printing.

I have many 12x18 prints shot by my canon s30.

It just struck me as odd that the manual for the 550d lists A3 as the recommended print size when shooting in RAW when I know they can go much bigger then that without losing any detail.

Nice pictures of the Bald Eagle.

I learned just the other day that Bald means White.

Now the name makes sense to me.

Mike, I see that you got your T2i. Are you happy with it? Quite a camera, isnt it?? By the way, what breed of puppies??

Gorgeous pictures Raid3! They have a great depth of color and very nice composition with the columns serving as natural frame. Are the light beams by the obelisk authentic or did you add them in post? Either way, the job is fantastic. Judging by the very-parallel columns I take it this were done at something other than the widest range of the lens?

Thanks for sharing, really great pictures,
Rafa.

managed to finaly get out today with my new 550d,(too much snow)took far too many pics going to take a few days to sort, using my 350d i relied on fastone image viewer to quickly sort out the out of focus pics etc, but it has slowed down dreadfully with the 550, what do you guys use to sift through the pics ?taking pics i mucked about with the settings, it was a sunny day with snow everyplace,, av mode with multi segment metering gave the most consistant correct exposures, iso 100,the hd movie mode blew me away especialy with the sigma 10-20,im going to have a lot of enjoyment out of that, the dial was knocked off onto another setting very frequently but i suppose in time i will learn to check before presing the button

Welcome to the forum and to the thread BeastMaster.

I really think that for the difference in price, the T2i is really a no-brainier at this point. You will specially like the better High ISO performance. I think you are better off with the T2i and it will keep you interested longer... you'll be wanting to upgrade the T1i much sooner, specially if you also will be doing some video.

Rafa.

kawwauser, really nice pictures! Like very much the color of your images and the simplicity of them all, there's nothing cluttered, the pictures are really eloquent. What focal length were you using for the birds?
Thanks,
Rafa.

Just wondering why you chose to go with F22? Diffraction sets in on my 10-20mm by F8, but I usually shoot F11 to sharpen up the corners a bit more. F11 would have kept everything in focus and it would have been sharper. Also would have allowed a higher shutter.

Just a thought..

Very nice picture btw!

Thanks. The light beams are natural. I am an amateur photographer so I don't know a whole lot about post editing yet. If I did something, it would be adjusting the contrast and sharpening the pictures a bit. Both pictures were taken at the widest of the efs 18-85mm.

Better also work on your better half if you have one- because if she doesn't want you to splurge, you need to soften her up over the weeks... (Notice I didn't say over the months, because I am confident if you want it bad enough, you will find a way) :D:twisted::twisted:
