Yeah, I haven't busted that thing out in years. I saw it sitting in a box in the basement and thought what the heck, let's see if I can take a picture of it.

Mike I really like the second one - makes me want to go there. Also like the old Asian guy with the camera - is it attached to a monopod?

Yeah, he had a monopod. I was stalkin' the guy everywhere in the Japan section. He was the classic Japanese photographer tourist.

Japanese people are so cool....I love them. Very friendly and polite. This lady (a cashier in Japan's exhibit) kept trying to avoid my camera until she finally gave up and surrendered to the fact that I was going to take her photo with that background.

Nice pictures all, but especially impressed by Mike Fairbanks and Verb Wonder's. VW, is that a 50mm 1.4 canon or Sigma? Just curious. Today I broke out my old nifty-fifty. I was thinking about one of the 1.4's but saw in a review that the nifty, at 5.6 is about as sharp as anything out there. I'm looking to see if it's true or not.

Wow, there is so much many new users in here, biggest boom since the beginning of this thread!

There is a lot of nice submissions also, keep it up. So many topics I have opinions onto also ;)

As of now, I have no backup plan (Bad choice, I know). I have two computer from to different houses and I'm doing my PP job on both of them. I have an external HD of 1tb. Bringing the hd to both house is a pain. I should get a second one tho...

Oh and Mook, at F5.6 pretty much all lens are sharp. Were you shooting a lot wide open on your nifty? If so, I suggest you look at Canon's 1.4. At 1.8, it is as sharp as your nifty when it was at around 2.2. So it'll he a nice improvement. Add better build quality, USM and faster focusing, it makes a great lens. It can be had for less than 350$ here ;)

Hi, I'm David.

Hi Mookalafalas! I am using the Canon 50mm 1.4, I've had it for a few months now and am still learning a lot about this lens, so far it's perfect for the way I like to see and capture things.

Thanks for the comment! :D

Rivest, you are right! But there are so many good lenses out there, I don't want to duplicate one that might already be "good enough" for the most part. Like Marubozo, I want something fast and wide for indoor family stuff. My Tamron with a flash is pretty darned good, but it would be wonderful to have a 1.4 between 24-35. The Sigma 30 is popular, but is no good if I go FF, and the Canon 35 is supposed to be great, but for $1500 is WAY out of my range.
I'm playing with the nifty because it's really nice when you can say "Why did I think I need a new lens? It's already right here!" Also, if you use a grip and some heavier glass, it's fun to take off the grip and put on the nifty and the T2i becomes so small and light it's almost like a micro 4/3s! I was actually trying to get into the inside pocket of my jacket, and almost managed it!

You both make good points, it took me a while to decide between the 1.4 & 1.8 because I've seen so many great pics from both lens', until I physically felt them on my camera, the 1.4 is nicely built, and I personally like the heavier feel.

I just bought this Intervalometer (external link) after reading this blog post on time lapse photography (external link). I've been reading a lot of articles on it and watching a lot of videos and am very keen on doing some time lapse photography.

Has anyone here done any with the 550D?
