So you didn't like that Sigma? I was torn between that and the Canon 28mm, but your comment makes me glad spent a few extra pennies on the 28mm now.

Nope. It was a lottery to get it sharp where i wanted it to be sharp. I did a lot of testing but my copy had ~1.5cm front focus. Focusing on the eyes ended up in a sharp nose :-) And it was somewhat too soft wide open. The 50mm is much sharper wide open. This was a bad copy. I've seen tons of great pictures shot wide open with the sigma. But I'm really sick of Sigma now. I'm not doing their work anymore :)

It's interesting because I have almost the same camera/lens set up as you.
I have the 60mm macro and Tammy 17-50mm.
I was actually going to buy the 50mm 1.4 as well for portraits but someone pointed out to me that there's not a lot of point in having a 60mm that's good for portraits and a 50mm as well as they're almost the same focal length.

So when I have the money I'll probably get the 35mm 1.4 or maybe the 28mm.

Nice.... Very Nice! I like!

I have a LP Studio too from 92. Will get it out a take some shots to compare.

Were these taken with a 50mm?

David

Took them with the 85 1.8. I try to avoid the 50 1.8 unless there is good light cuz my copy doesn't focus well in low light. I also think it tends to front focus ever so slightly.

Wow. I'd almost trade in all my camera gear for that beauty!

It was a find. This finish is no longer available on the studios. It was a tough decision between lenses/gear and this guy.

You're right. The 60mm is good for portraits too. It's by far the best lens I own. It's ultrasharp (maybe too sharp for portraits :D) and the autofocus is very fast. But it doesn't have 1.4 aperture

No it certainly doesn't.
That 1.4 aperture must be amazing indoors. It's interesting that you say it's by far the best lens you own because I would've thought that the 50mm 1.4 would be just as sharp...?
I'm only guessing though.

I just got it today so I had not that much time to test it. Just did some wide open indoor tests (this is what I bought it for) by now ... maybe it's not raining the whole day tomorrow so I can test it out outside :) But reading the photozone.de review it must be nearly as sharp at f/4

BTW, I've been even worse. After buying a $900 Sigma 85, I just got a second hand 5D! I tested it out on my wife in advance, and she seemed shocked but kind of OK. I am heavily stressing the point that of course I wanted a new Mark II, but settled for an old, old, old second hand, out of date model at a much cheaper price...

Mook, really? If so, that's great! Hope you'll like your 5D classic :)

Give me some news when you'll have it, a small review would be cool

I keep up with the LP line, fairly well, and don't recall that finish being offered. I was floored to see it! Really nice find. I knew it was a studio when I didn't see the binding!

Should i keep my T2i??
I ordered my 7D and its on its way!

I was thinking about keeping my T2i as a back up camera and for friends to use when we go out and shoot. I will eventually be shooting event coverage and other jobs soon. I was wondering what your guys experience with multiple/back up cameras and bodies. I only have about 9k shots on the T2i so its still pretty new. Its been an AWESOME camera and i still love to shoot with it

What do you all think?

Really starting to enjoy using this camera now - more confident shooting in manual mode now and playing around with AF points.

If/when I upgrade, I'll be keeping the T2i for a 2nd body. Shooting sports, it would be great to have a 17-55 f/2.8 on the T2i, and a 70-200 f/2.8 (maybe with an extender) on a 7D or 1D.

This would also allow outings with my kids to shoot manual as they grow and learn.
