Rafa, I'm going to keep you in mind. I may have some web design work I need done later this year. ;)

In the meantime, here's another ice sculpture from yesterday.

And a broader picture of downtown.

Rafa, why don't you build yourself a nice website to host your best work in there?

I just happened to stumble on a program on my laptop that helps calibrate the monitor. I just am not sure how accurate it is though.. These pics were post processed after the recalibration. Let me know guys if its over or under saturated. THanks!

So fortunate to have a bunch of knowledgeable people on this site.

Annie, if you are shooting RAW, LightRoom is all you need to achieve what I was speaking of and which Rivest more or less posted as well (for me Rivest version is a bit too balck-crushed, but that is a personal thing).

LightRoom also has a top of the line Noise Reduction system... its all in there, on the right pane of the Develop section. Start with WB, then exposure and make your way down onto the more refined options down... after some tweaking, you'll fall in love with it!

As I see it, if you are going to purchase X plug-in for this, and Y plug-in for NR and Z plug-in for this other thing, you'd soon have over-spent the value of LR.

I really suggest you try it before it expires... it really is not that hard once you have get used to the un-common un-intuitive user interface.

Oh, and your second option is better, but I think it was a bit too timid and looks very close to the original one you posted :)

Rafa.

I still have two weeks to go for the trial, so I will be playing. Hopefully, I'll finally be able to get out and go shooting somewhere tomorrow. I received my 55-250mm IS today, and can't wait to give it a try.

BTW, I really do want to thank you Rafa, and everyone else on this thread. You are all so helpful, and even when there are criticisms, they're done with kindness and a real interest in helping others. And along with criticisms and suggestions, there are always comments that talk about the good parts of a shot too. You don't find this on many sites, and it's like a breath of fresh air.

:) Anne

They look underexposed and a bit orange on my monitor. Not saying mine is perfect though.

^ that looks a bit underexposed as well. Some of the blacks look clipped to me in the fur, but overall that is a much nicer picture. Good color.

it must be my monitor? or maybe I didn't get the exposure right.. IDK :(

First moon shot.. Thanks to everyone's tips. Obviously I will need some kenko tubes if I want to get closer to the moon :)

Hello all, my first jump into the DSLR world is with a T2i and I am loving every minute of it! There is so much to learn and it is more fascinating than I ever imagined it would be. A word of warning, as a new DSLR owner I didn't have the faintest idea how vulnerable the sensor is when swapping lenses. I have only had my camera for about a month and I have been very careful with it thus far. Tonight I checked the dust on my sensor out of curiosity and sure enough, my sensor is pretty dirty! Now keep in mind that this dust doesn't show up as bad at the normal apertures that I usually shoot at (around f/9), but at f/25 it's pretty ugly. I went through the dust delete data process using DPP tonight and it seems to help a little bit by taking the really dark dust particles out, but it still leaves some. So, in the future when I swap lenses I won't do it with my camera face up anymore...Canon recommends swapping lenses with the camera face down to keep dust particles from falling into the camera. I'm looking forward to learning more!

Before dust delete data is applied. Notice the spots at the right upper-middle and lower left.

After dust delete data is applied. The darker spots are gone, but dust still remains.

I guess while we have the doggies out....... I don't like the flare in this shot. A hood could have prevented most of it.
