Left work for a few minutes today to try to take some pics of the trains nearby, but it was too cold to venture out for too long..the sky was pretty nice..

I like this one a lot. Really strong lines and engaging composition, IMO.

There is so much to learn and it is more fascinating than I ever imagined it would be. A word of warning, as a new DSLR owner I didn't have the faintest idea how vulnerable the sensor is when swapping lenses. I have only had my camera for about a month and I have been very careful with it thus far. Tonight I checked the dust on my sensor out of curiosity and sure enough, my sensor is pretty dirty! Now keep in mind that this dust doesn't show up as bad at the normal apertures that I usually shoot at (around f/9), but at f/25 it's pretty ugly. I went through the dust delete data process using DPP tonight and it seems to help a little bit by taking the really dark dust particles out, but it still leaves some. So, in the future when I swap lenses I won't do it with my camera face up anymore...Canon recommends swapping lenses with the camera face down to keep dust particles from falling into the camera. I'm looking forward to learning more! Spend the $10 or whatever it is for a Rocket Blower. I haven't found dust on my sensor that that thing couldn't blow off. Best accessory money spent IMO.

This was one of the first shots I took, the day my new camera arrived. Question.... How do you post from Flickr and get the exif info to show up here? I've had a Flickr account for a long time, but basically never used it, so this post is the experiment (which failed miserably. LOL)

Fantastic shoots of the spider... we have some of those here, although considerably darker (brownish) than yours. They are also jumpers... they can move incredibly fast if they are hopping around. And I know how tiny they are, so kudos for the results!! The white balance is a tad warm and I believe after changing the WB you'll have a tad under-contrasted image, so you will probably need to up the contrast and or exposure a bit. By the way, which program do you use to edit your images? Thanks for sharing, Rafa. Rafa, I found out the name of my spider. Did a search for "jumping spiders" and came up with this info:

Jan 22, 2011 11:11 | #6658 Another cold day in Tennessee, so I just stuck the camera out the back door and took this picture, and is one I've taken many times.
Cropped to approximately what the field of view would be for the 100mm Lens 50mm F-stop f/9 Exposure time 1/160 sec. ISO-100 Exposure bias 0 step 2nd picture just looked blurry to me. _
