Okay y'all,

I think I may finally have gone completely over the edge, but I'm comfortable enough with you guys to actually post this.

Does anyone here remember Bob Ross. He used to have some quick method of painting. And if you remember Mr. Ross, do you remember his "happy little accidents?" Well, looks like I had a happy little accident of my own this evening. I was shooting some Ibis and an egret. The Egret was stalking some dinner, and payed me no mind at all. Then I guess I got too close, and before I could get myself situated and ready, he took off on me. I just kept hitting the shutter button until he was out of sight, and when I opened the images I'd shot, this is what I got.

And once you've all stopped laughing at me; just know that I actually like it. For some reason it reminds me of an abstract painting or something. I like the black and white conversion better than the original color I think.

Am I the only crazy who likes this?

Annie,

I am definitely old enough (40) to remember Bob Ross. This is a happy little accident. It breaks the rules in just the right way. But I like that I can still tell by the beak and wing color what it is so therefore I like the original best.

Not to diminish what Wolfy and Rafa did because it is very pretty either way.

Anyhoo looking forward to more of you "Happy Accidents".

No problem, I've been bringing my camera in and out of the cold weather for 4 weeks now (I'm in Seoul) with no problem.

Where in Korea are you going to be?

Thanks bro...Seoul for 5 days on a business trip...I'm planning to take photos at night if I'm not with my clients...

So now I can finally decided to bring my camera...Cheers...

I have a lot of catching up to do in here!

Annie, if you want to experiment with some abstract stuff on purpose, try doing something with a light source in a dark room and a long exposure. Here's one I did a while back:

IMAGE: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5285/5329475018_be46d941f9_z.jpg

Makes for a neat computer wallpaper or something. But basically I just shut all the lights off except for this one hanging ceiling light, and set it up for a few second exposure and then moved the camera all around while the shutter was open. From there you can really do some wild stuff in lightroom or photoshop with colors and presets and stuff. :D

Aero India '11? I live right next to Lohegaon AFB, Pune, so I see quite a few of them on a daily basis.

It is sunny outside, and of course today I am sick. I did manage to get out and take a few pictures. This time with my long lost 35-135 USM. Just playing around the lens performed well.

This isn't a great shot, but thought the bokeh was interesting. Interesting, but not in a good way. lol

Well, I took some 100% crops between the 50mm and the 35-135mm@50mm. Both lens were set up with the same apature, etc. anyhow, I now remember why I don't use the 35-135. The 50mm made the zoom look like it had vasoline on the front element. lol

It wasn't even close.
