Yep!

And she's gorgeous in b&w or color. Now why don't I have eyes like that, instead of boring brown?

David!!!

I know I just posted, and I know I said I wouldn't again until tonight or tomorrow (don't want to upset people here.. hehe)

BUT, I promised this, and am finally able to deliver :) Taken on the last day of our weekend, on a small 'hike' (more like walk) on one of the trails near the lodge (as mentioned in previous post).

Also worth mentioning, given the nature of the walk, and the bag I have, I only took one lens along (fitted to the camera), being the 55-250mm. So not ideal for Macro (if I'd only had my 100mm Macro - aghh!), but when I saw this little guy, I thought of you and had to get him (or her?)!

Glad I chose the 55-250 in any case, as we bumped into some great game a little later on in the walk.. (still to come in due course..)

Initiation Beetle (Not 100% sure it's a dung beetle, but, a beetle, in dung, none the less ;p)

Wow! I don't know what to say. lol Interesting thought about how you saw a Dung Beetle and thought of me. How sweet!

That is funny!

Great photo! Cudos!

Cheers!

David

Rafa and Wolfy (or anyone else for that matter), how do you guys apply your signature? Do you have a simple layer that you can add to any pic?

I was playing around with automated script watermarks in CS4, but I'm not happy with the results.

I was going to put my picture as mine but my husband said women don't put their own picture on the forums:/

Well, I've had this camera for years. Decided to dig it out, and take some pictures of it.

Anyone ever heard of a Praktica? lol Wow, they are still in buisness today - http://www.praktica.de/ (external link)

I see it has a Carl Zeiss lens. It says ... Tessar 1:3,5 f=5cm

I don't know if anyone is interested in old cameras, but I found out some information about this one. This Praktica camera was made later 1949 to early 1950, and featured the first flash feature that ever came with a Praktica. I don't believe this is worth much money, but I think it will go well in the curio cabinet as a conversation piece.

This is the website I found this particular model - http://www.praktica-collector.de/082_Praktica_flash.htm (external link)

Vectoria, point your husband here:
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=908289

The first page has 2 out of 5 or 6 female photographers posting their pictures, and it goes on for 126 pages:

Here are mostly women: https://photography-on-the.net …hread.php?t=908289&page=7
or here: https://photography-on-the.net …read.php?t=908289&page=75

Now, the percentage of males vs. females here in this forum is probably around 80% to 20%, if not more, so its to be expected that there are more male pictures, about 4 to 1... but that statement from him is, sorry to say, simply not true. Two of our moderators: Maureen Sosa and SussyView have their own pictures as avatars!

Best regards,
Rafa.

Well then I am going to make mine with my picture. Thanks Rafa:)

How do I make my avatar again? I never really been on a forum before but I love this one.

You go to
- User CP (located at the leftmost part on the blue navigation on the top of this page)
- The click on Edit Avatar in the left navigation options (last on the Settings & Options sub-panel)
- Select the file to become your avatar selecting 'browse' on the Option 2 - Upload Image From Your Computer
- Select Save Changes.

Now, for this to work your image needs to be maximum 80x80 and less than 8kb in size, so you'll need Photoshop or some other photo editing program. You could export with Lightroom using a preset also, but you'd need to make a preset for this type of thing.

Alternatively, you can use free avatar makers... this one works fine:

http://avatars.qkype.com/ (external link)

You:
- upload your image (of any size) with the browse button and the select upload, it may take a while.
- once the image is uploaded you'll be taken to a framing page, select 80x80 as the target size
- Now click and drag on the main image to determine which part to use.
- Once you are done, select Save Selection, your image is created.
- At this point select Open in new window
- You'll see the image alone in the browser, right click on it and select Save image as...
- Select the destination.

Now, you can use the procedures that I described first to upload this newly created Avatar into your profile.

Hope this helps, best regards,
Rafa.

I'm glad Vectoria and n4ck! Both Avatars are looking great, but n4ck, you'll excuse me if I think Vectoria's is a bit more handsome! :) Great portrait Vecotria. If you feel brave, that Self Portrait thread I posted above will compliment your looks for several pages! ;)

Well, back photo sharing! :) (not from me though, nothing to report today :( )

Rafa.
