I took this one a couple weeks ago, and bugged my wife when I said "Where are the candles". She just absolutely loves it when I just ask for odd things out of the blue to take pictures with. Of course you know I'm totally joking cause she about slapped me upside the head.

Annie, that is a crazy amount of work! Have you considered purchasing an external Hard Drive? I believe they are the less gigabyte-expensive medium. A CD carries 700MB (well, depends, but on average) and costs around $0.5 or so, depending how many you buy. A 1TB Hard Drive (1400 CDs worth of capacity, or $700) costs $70 on Amazon.

You could purchase two of them and have redundant info and much easier work than burning all those CDs?

I'm looking at that myself right now, as I am running out of space.

Rafa.

Amazon had a sale and I picked up a WD two terabyte caviar green for $79. I have do not have a raid setup. But internal space is 4 terabytes with a 1.5 terabyte external. This should hold me for a few days.

it will be a great help annie..hubby just bought WD 1TB for me as my old WD passport was full already..

Peajunk, I had no idea you were woman also... perhaps my 80-20 ratio was not so accurate after all! :) I think its time for a self-portrait explosion all over this thread! :)

Man this picture makes me cringe! It's like seeing a cheetah racing towards a defenseless baby. Please tell me no alcohol was spilled in the making of this photo.

I don't know if you guys have a similar story/joke in your languages, but here its a common phrase to say: "Let it be blood!"... which comes from a long standing joke about a poor drunkard stumbling down the stairs with a bottle of wine on his back pocket. Suddenly, he slips and falls three stories worth of stairs. At last he tries to move and sees a pool of red liquid next tom him, and, thinking of his bottle of wine exhales: please Lord, let it be blood, let it be blood! :)

So, while I'm mostly a non-drinking fellow, I surely hope those nice bottles were not harmed in the making of that production! :)

Rafa.

Good night Vectoria. Have a nice run tomorrow!

Marubozo, is that a composite image or did you actually smashed those with the ball? At any rate, when are your kids and wife coming back? :) No, seriously, you have my respects for trying to find a photo motif everywhere! Nice going.

Rafa.

Haha, no, not a composite image. It's an action shot. The "bottles" are actually just 1 inch long chocolate candies filled with an alcohol flavored center caramel. And that was just a little rubber ball.

The wife and kids are finally back, but they are all sleeping so I'm again left to my own devices.

I was hoping nobody would notice. That silly expression on my face is because we'd just had an aftershock after a 6.2 earthquake while on vacation in Costa Rica. While I'm sure nobody here is old enough to remember Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman; "what? Me worry?"

Who would laugh! First its a great portrait, second, I believe its safe to say we are all under similar circumstances. My self portraits require me yelling at 50 people to line up in order to fire a 10secs. shot, the mirror (not the best at all! :) ) or my father shooting at me as I shoot at him! :). Al for instance usually only appears in pictures shot by his little girl, so you are perfectly safe amongst us! :)

Annie, I think its a great picture! I remember thinking of the large one (the one you posted a while back): this has a terrific feel to it... you are surprised but amused at the same time! I think its a very flattering and nice portrait!

Rafa.

A big hug to any New Zealanders here (if any) after the terrible earthquake! Hope everything is OK with your loved ones.

You're welcome! Well, for one, the replacement will not be the 6D, that's for sure :) ... at that level, Canon grades its 'numbers' as lower being better, so 1D>5D>7D... so you can wait for a 2D or 3D (unlikely! :) ) a 4D (I have heard number 4 has some issues in Japanese, pronounced similar to death, or the likes), so you are probably waiting for a 5DmIII :) .

Well, I believe its true that every lens has a learning curve much like every different car requires a slightly different handling even though the procedures are much the same. Now, the issue here is that the learning curve would more or less be reset when you upgrade to full frame, since the Field of View will dramatically change, the Depth of Field is different as well, so you have a different lens altogether! That said, there is nothing preventing you to enjoy the 50mm f1.2L on the T2i, just be sure that the focal length is what you are looking for because on the T2i a 50mm is a medium telephoto. So, for tests, put your 55-250 on the camera an put it to the 55mm mark. That is the Field of View you would get. If that works for you, I'm sure you'll have a fantastic lens on the T2i!

Now, here on these forum, the premise has usually been glass over body, meaning, its better to have a better glass on a medium-classed body than to have a poor glass on a top-end camera. But, once you start saying: I'm going to buy this L glass, everyone starts jumping in saying: but try the 50mm 1.4, you wouldn't jump into a Ferrari before learning to drive a Honda, or something similar. I differ with this approach. If you already know you want the lens, go for it! If you know you will be so much into photography that you will forget about the lens's price once you have it your hands, why go for a more humble version of the same characteristics.

I'm mostly against the tide on this issue, but I fear that this is also driven by a certain envy elsewhere in the forum: why would this noob have such a great lens! :( ... the great thing about this T2i corner is that there is none of that... we are genuinely happy with everyone's improvements and upgrades, and yours would not be the exception!

The only requirement is that you post the first pictures in here with a T2i and the 50mm L! :)

Best regards,
Rafa.

Ahh I see! I never noticed that, the lower the number the better =) I'm dying for that camera! Hopefully it won't have any bugs or glitches, the only thing that worries me!

I also did not know about the field of view difference from the T2i to the full frames. I took your advice and tried the 55mm and I can agree with it! The 50L is definitely the lens I am considering the most at the moment, mainly because I want to get more into portrait type photography. And the pictures you have shown me in your second post has sold me! I definitely want it, there's just something about that really shallow DoF that I can really appreciate!

I know some people will disagree with the 50L on the T2i, but once I upgrade, we will see if they have a change of heart =) There's not many pictures I have seen taken with a 50L using the T2i body, so it's hard to say if it will be worth it, but if I'm the sucker that has to find out, then that is how it shall be! Either way, I'm going to upgrade the body, so the 50L will come in handy in my future arsenal of lenses I believe =) Thank you very much Rafa, you've been of great help to me and Im sure to many others as well! Like I've said before, I'm still learning, both here on POTN and at photo school, so any advice/critique is always appreciated!

Once I get in some of my school money in the mail, I will purchase it, and definitely share photo's with everyone!

I LOVE my Canon 60mm f/2.8! It's on my T2i 90% of the time, excellent for close up shots IMHO =)
