What I'm enjoying about the T2i (after upgrading from the XS) is not just the better ISO performance, but the ability to crop. I've been able to crop much deeper into my photos with decent results.

that is what i love about it.. everyone says you dont need more MP.. im a cropin pixelator!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there, a 550D user here.
Do you have any issue regarding the rubber grip expanding? Thanks.

Intel, if you are talking about the grip near the shutter button, yes I had. I had to sendy camera to Canon. Two weeks later I got it back, with a new grip.

Is that your issue?

I've had no issues with the grip - knock on wood.

Well, the jungle, rain-forests and savannas exploded this day! Wonderful shots.

We have dirkkristen with the lizards, birds and bugs... nice set! I love the lizard shots... and I can certainly see the difficulty in focusing for those shots with the leaves on the foreground. Did you manual focus them as well as the birds pictures? Nice focusing, and great images! I like the antelopes and zebras as well.

We have Annie's marvel of image with the giraffe... and I am specially surprised as it is a SHARP image, with every heir on the giraffe showing even on the short neck's hair, yet it is almost a quarter of an image crop. Great image, great decision on cropping, perfect exposure. Lovely image!

We have the other side of the coin with technology in Simon's motorcycles and teleFragger's plugs.

We also have a few new commers! Welcome Mr.Kenmuir, Rexdog! Nice images from both of you.

Its great seeing this thread so active and with such diversity!

Rafa.

so i'm ordering a 50mm 1.8 tomorrow, but want another alternative lens as well. selling my kit lens as we speak.
any recommendations for a good lens that you fellow 550D owners have in your bags?
thanks.

*im ordering a 70-200 f/4 once i get my tax returns*
so anything you guys would feel that could be a good addition.

Macris, it depends heavily on your style of shooting and what you want the lens for. The 50mm f1.8 is a medium telephoto, and the 70-200 is a medium to long tele, so, unless you'll be concentrating exclusively on portraits or the likes, there is probably a need for a wide to normal or ultra wide lens.

Depending on this, you could either go the ultra wide road with some of the good lenses in that category like the Canon 10-22 or the Tokina 11-16, or you could go with the 17ish-55ish lenses out there. The 17-50s from Tamron are very well regarded both the VC and non-VC version, as is the new Sigma. I myself got recently the 17-55 from Canon.

That is if you want zooms... now, if you prefer primes, Marubozo here has recently posted fantastic images with the 28mm f1.8. The Sigma 30mm f1.4 is another good contender but has some quality control issues.

There's actually a myriad of choices, what is your budget and what are you shooting preferences?

best regards,
Rafa.

We never see these in the U.S. unless as some prop or museum piece. When was the last time you saw a pay phone on the side of the street?

Great shot. Love the action!

dirkkristen, love the colors and textures on the lizard shots.

I wish I could comment on everything posted, but man this thread moves fast!

I don't get out to shoot much with my lame schedule. However, we had a disc golf course opening in our area this past weekend. Being a disc golf enthusiast, I was more than obligated to head out to shoot the new and veteran players.

Here are a few of them.

Awesome frisbee shots.

I'm looking for harsh criticism of my photos - tell me how to improve, I will be grateful.

Walking around today and I took the following shot. I've always wanted to shoot homeless people, but have never gotten up the nerve to in case they make a scene or someone says something. This time though I saw this man in a spot where there are normally no homeless people and he was clearly sleeping or passed out. I waited for the light to change so I could cross the street (to where I was going) turned around quickly and took two shots - this was the best one.

Very well framed for a turn and snap, I have the same curiosity but caution when it comes to shooting homeless people.

Always awesome Sean.
