Rafa, I guess the biggest complaint I have is with landscape type shots. The 70-200 is razor sharp even if your subject is miles away. All of my other lenses, not so much. Subjects on the horizon are not only not very sharp, but there is noticeable distortion around the edges even if you run a lens profile correction on them.

Again, not apples to apples, so it isn't fair to say the other lenses are bad by any means. But at the same time, I know the improved optics of a better lens can yield significant results.

That being said, there's still no comparison with the 28mm at about f/2 in low light indoors. The results in situations like that are phenomenal. But take the same lens outside and shoot a landscape at f/10 and it still can't compete with the 70-200 even at f/4.

That guy is hysterically funny.

As for the T3i, yeah, I'd like a swivelly screen, but it's sure not enough to make me not love my T2i.

Any additional monies I spend will be going towards glass mostly.

:)

that's probably the best you can do ...

749 Euros for the 600D vs 591 Euros for the 550D = 158 Euros difference. Not that much but i would invest it in a better lens ...

I was bored and trying to get some sleep but ended up doing another product shot.. :)

I did quite a bit of editing since my lighting sucked so bad that my backdrop was too visible..

I'm torn guys.. I know I want to go FF in the far future so I want to invest in EF lenses now. There's a guy selling his 70-200 mm f4 L IS USM for 975 but the other part of me says add more and get a new 70-200 F/2.8 USM instead. I wanted the 2.8 IS USM but for some reason it was already discontinued. Anybody know why they stopped producing such an excellent lens? It was very tack sharp and I had my mind set on it..

Here's an example when I rented it (2.8 IS USM) last year.. totally fell in love with the sharpness.. Mind you these pics were cropped and I didn't even know how to edit to a certain extent at that time..

Because they switched to the 70-200 2.8 IS USM Mark II, right? Or am I missing something else...

Like others here, I've neen going stir crazy for something to photograph - the weather here is overcast, damp and miserable, so last night set up the Tamron for a test of DOF at f4.5 - I was surprised at how narrow it appears to be:

These were my Grandfathers - the date scratched into the side of the box reads 1913.

I'm off to my first motorsport event of the year tomorrow, perhaps I'll bring back something a little more out-doorsy and interesting to post ;)

Because the new one is better (external link) in every way and VERY sharp.

Well, good news and bad news. Bad news is I didn't get a shot of the satellite.

speaking on the ISS, this guy (external link) was actually able to grab a shot of it last year with his 7D and a few teleconverters on his 400 f/2.8.

When it went over BKK a month ago, it was easy to see, but went faster than I anticipated. NASA has a great tracking site that lists horizon to horizon times and exact linear directions.

Hey guys, i had a couple quick questions...
ONE) how do i get the pictures on here? the thing never lets me upload them (too big, too high resolution?)

2) you know where the monochrome and faithful color shooting options are? well i was messing around with them, and there are three that are user defined.... does anyone know how to alter these? and what possible changes i can make to the user defined ones for "cool" effects.

oh, and one more :D

how do you isolate a SINGLE color in a photo. ex) monochrome photo of a young girl wearing blue, but a bright red purse.... so everything but the red purse is monochrome.

What cute little fur babies. That cat looks just like one I had as a teenager. Only mine weighed about 40 pounds and his name was Bambi!! LOL Hey, when I got him, who knew he'd be huge!!
