Whereas the 24-105L @ f/4 you would be pushing 6400/12800 ISO to get anything close to what the 17-55IS can do at ISO1600. Since both have IS, the difference would be one stop of ISO. I was recently testing the ISO on the T2i and found with proper exposure that ISO3200 is usable.
; Gear

The 17-55 has 78 degrees of AoV on on our t2i. The 24-105 has 84 degrees on a FF, does anybody know whats the AoV of the 24-105 when used with the t2i? “You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.” --==Gear List & Feedback==--

Or I could buy the 17-40 but I would have nothing from 41mm to 69mm (apart a 50mm). Kind of a big step isn't it?You still have your kit lens? That is one of the deciding factors for me. I did use the wide side of the 17-55 a little bit and wide gives your images a whole different look to it. I have a 18-55IS so if I need anything wider than 24 I could always reach for the 18-55 on those rare occasions. 24mm is not "wide" enough but everyone has their own view of what is wide enough and what is not. I see alot of people doing a 17-40l/50/70-200 combo and it works for them. It just depends on what you shoot and if you would be ok with the gap in between.
