Stopped by my locally owned camera shop today after work today, they did not have what I was looking for. So, on my way home I stopped by the franchised store that starts with a W. They did not have it either. In fact, they really did not have anything. I checked what they had for lenses… three! Three lenses for canon. Their other brands did not appear to be in good stock. So, the three they had was the 16-35L, 17-40L, and an 18-55. I did not even see a 7D on display. Just a Rebel….
I just wondering if a company is not going to stock their stores why even bother keeping it open? My guess is they are on their way out. The locally owned store had plenty of stock and the place was packed.

I'm assuming you're referring to Wolf. I'm sure being in bankruptcy has some bearing on their inventory. But even prior to that I would never expect them to have much in the way of high end stock. They have always catered to the average consumer. That equates to concentrating on point and shoots and entry level dslr's paired with their Quantaray brand of lenses.

In case you haven't noticed, their Quantaray brand is down to a very few lenses, and one absolutely atrocious 2× teleconverter.

Canon is not selling any products to Wolf/Ritz/etc. chain because of issues tied to their bankruptcy. nikon wasn't either for a while but I guess they worked out some kind of a deal.

Nikon would sell to anyone. Hell, Bin Laden probably uses a Nikon.
