not just your average day - $200million + damage caused in 1hr - freak storm... some seriously dented cars from the hail, flooding..

I happened to be home - we dont get hail like this ever really so i grabbed the camera... and then hit the road but only had my iphone - again highly unusual perth western australian weather...

so enjoy - used 24 fps to try out the new firmware!

Looked great until you got behind your own windshield wipers...

At that point, I think I had an epileptic seizure and checked out for a while.

yeah thats the iphone jammed in the dash whilst driving... never had flooding like that here - footage would mean more to locals rather than my cinematic credability :)

Always looking for a good excuse to "check out" hey flyingphotog :)

RW - nah not too bad... i was surprised... it doesnt fit in the garage so there wasnt a whole lot i could do - the bonnet is pretty heavy duty but the roof got a few tiny dings... nothing serious enough for me to bother with a claim... u in perth?? we did have some seriously damaged cars - thousands of write offs - the hail was bigger a few suburbs away... well into golf ball size... back of my friends house was completely smashed in - as was his nice SS commodore...

Looked like a helluva storm. The 5DMkII definately makes oustanding video! That was with the 24p firmware tweak, yeah?

yeah jay it was - and some actual effort in playing with the colours/saturation etc to get a better feel in the video - the 5d2 video doesnt look pretty handheld - as you can see in the puddle shot - wide angle and it picks up every vibration... even just need a mono - or at least the 24-105 - the IS does wonders compared to lenses without it!

that was only 1 pass VBR as well... about 10mbs on the quality scale... 470mb file if viewed in full HD (which i cant do on this monitor..)

I watched it in full up 1080p and it's gorgeous video (well, at least the 5DMkII part is...)

Please, if you value your friends and aquaintences, don't EVER mix in iPhone footage again!
