Could a mod stop by at some point and give this thread a less misleading title?

"The definition of trolling." is a suggestion.

I have not idea why someone who has invested that much money in so many fine cameras has the time nor inclination to post such obvious argument bait.

I also have not idea why I just wasted my breath.

Must be contagious.

I have learned a lot, but today I learned some Canon users have big egos.

No, you've learned that - just like everybody - there's a limit to how much BS some users can take.

I guess I am "an idiot" because I am still learning

No, the fact that you know and acknowledge that you're still learning discounts you immediately - it's the ones who think they know best and simply won't listen to the good advice they're being given, that this thread is about.

As I've pointed out at least three times now.

Here's the thread that I believe triggered this one - read it and you might understand the OP's motivation.

Who is forcing anyone to read the so called "BS". Why not just skip by the thread if it really upsets you so much. Me, I'm just sitting here with a morning coffee having a great chuckle over all this. Psychologists would probably have a field day reading these types of threads.

If cookie99 was talking about the thread with the guy trying to photograph the race cars, he should have responded at the end of that thread and not start another thread calling users having problems idiots. IMO

My husband flew F14's in the Navy for 16 years and has over 500 traps, 200 at night. When he hears someone talk about the fear of flying he justs smiles and says nothing. Most of our neighbors do not know what he does/did. That's what I meant when I talked about Big Ego's. You can be good at something and still be humble.

or you can post up a list of camera equipment that you own and be a complete tool..... To each their own!

I think many are missing what "Cookie99" is trying to say.

If you won't sit down and go through the manual to learn how the camera operates and then post how screwed up the 7D is then that person just might be an idiot. It's kind of like "are you smarter than a fifth grader". If someone gave you the answers to a test and you got half the questions wrong would you be an idiot?

It's the same with the manual. The a/nswers are there. If your coming from a point and shoot world then you damn well better read the manual on what the camera can do.

On the second question "then why does the camera have the auto feature"? It's for the person that doesn't want to read the manual and learn how to really use the 7D. It's for the new owner to be able to enjoy the camera while learning to use the manual features.

You can't really make anyone an idiot. People do that by themselves. If you believe a general statement/comment about a camera and how it works is calling you an idiot well...

There is nothing wrong with asking questions. That is how we learn to. It's a way to hone skills to a new level. Arguing and refusing to take advice from a question that you asked would be that of an id...

It's cookie's statement, "If you feel that you can't put the effort into learning to use this camera well DON'T BUY IT" that hits it right on the head. Ask questions and learn. Don't blame the camera if you
haven't learnt to use it or don't want to take the time to do it.

I agree with you crimsonblack.

But another of cookie's statement, "Canon should have put a warning on the box, "Idiots should start with a POINT and SHOOT and hopefully return to photography when they have an understanding of the basics of it.

I use 2 1D MKIIIs, 2 IDsMKIIIs, 2 5D MKIIs, 1 ID MKIV, and 2 7Ds." seems a little too arragant to me.

I don't know... It may sound arrogant to some, but not to me. I just take it as a reference that the OP has a good basis for comparison.

I mean if he hadn't listed what he owns or has used, then people would accuse him that he doesn't know what he's talking about due to lack of experience and/or gear. :)

I don't know, just my opinion. But again, he's from Australia. They are very direct and don't beat around the bush (no pun intended). :)

Nobody says the OP isn't right in his opinion. we're just saying that this arrogance and name-calling is not welcomed on a civilized forum.

Ignore the naysayers. You'll love the camera. Spend your time making pictures and less time reading the whiners.

I've got around 5000 shots (since last October) that say you have nothing to worry about.

Owning something mean squat. Just means you have enough money to throw around and look like you know something.

A professional will understand there are many different levels of expertise and is willing to listen and help out all the different levels. Calling someone an idiot because they don't fully understand their new camera just shows me the type of person the guy really is.
