The sample thread for this lens is amazing, but it seems like most of the shots were done with full frame bodies. Can those of you who use this lens on a crop body post some examples (or point me to where I can find some)?

Thanks!

This seems like such an awesome lens, I'm just concerned about it being a bit too tight on a crop body. Your shot looks great!

It is excellent on FF and crop. Can't go wrong with the 35 L.

If you have any intention at all of moving up to FF some day, then you can't go wrong with it. Otherwise, on a cropper it's pretty much overkill - Sigma 30mm f/1.4 has superb IQ and it's much cheaper.

if you like a 50mm field-of-view, it'll be fine.

Sigma 30 1.4? That's what I'd do and if I were to move to FF, sell it and get the 35L.

Thanks for the responses, I'll check out the Sigma since that would definitely be easier on my bank account. I do intend to eventually go FF, but I don't know when that'll happen. As of now, I only have one lens (Nifty Fifty) that will work on a FF body, and I can't really afford a 5D and a lens or two at the moment.

I do like the 50mm field of view, but the 35 would still be slightly wider on a crop body, right?

My 35L is pretty much attached to my 7D. Before that it was stuck to the 500D. Absolutely love it!

I have been contributing the 35L lens sample archive. Rather than re-post here, you can do an advance search and search by posts from me in the 35L if you want to see what it looks like on a crop body.

Don't do it! This is the lens that "forced" me to buy the 5D2.

buzzyrabbit, the kitty picture really cool!
Regarding shorter lenses on crops, my 24 f1.4 works really well, more of an "in your face" thing though.

Would you like to buy a vowel?

This may actually be a selling point. ;)

On a crop it's 56mm, so more like a 60mm lens (which to me starts to get a little tight)
