*sigh*, I thought I had made my decision. Ordered Aperture 3 after playing with the trial and I really liked the way it worked overall. NR & Sharpening were not as good as LR but not bad enough to change my mind.

Then LR3 Beta 2 came out. NR and Sharpening is greatly improved. Wow. Now I'm really torn. I have 1 day left in my Apeture trial - not much time to decide.

*sigh*

Heh! Well, I could say "That's why you should use Windows -- you wouldn't have that choice!"...but I won't:)! The good news is that you do have the choice between two very capable workflow/processing apps! You could let your Aperture trial expire while working for a while with LR. But in the end, you do need to decide...

I finally decided - LR it is. I had some portrait shots of my wife that I was editing. A little skin smoothing, some eye tweaks, a bit of tooth whitening. Then I did the same thing to the same image in Aperture. Found the brush tools to be not as nice to use and didn't work as well.

So, LR gives better NR and better Sharpening, has better brush tools and does a more consistent job converting RAW files from both my 1D IIn and 5D. The other benefits of Aperture I can live without.

Oh, and LR is 1/2 the price since I can just upgrade.

LR is a good choice, just seems to be more compatible with 3rd party software/presets and all, plus I just think lightroom is better, but that's personal op :p
