Evidently a Minolta MD Rokkor-X 45mm f2.0 lens :D

I was at an antique store today and just happened to stumble upon this lens marked for an even $3.00....even though I have no idea about what this lens is or how it performs, there's no way I could pass up that deal.....it even came with the original leather case. The lens needs a good cleaning but other than that, it seems to be in great shape with no scratches or marks on the glass. If anyone has any info on this lens or the adapter I would need to make it work, I would appreciate it :)

In all honestly, you did not get that great of a deal. This will not be worth adapting as it isn't a super lens to begin with and the minolta mount is challenging to adapt.

If you want a cheapo lens that IS worth adapting and is easy to adapt - check out the Yashica 50mm ML 50mm f2. They go for under $20 all the time and are very sharp.

LOL....that may very well be the case although I'm hoping that I can at least find an adapter that will allow me to play with it a bit and get my 3 bucks worth ;)

Minolta lenses can't be easily adapted to EOS mount, unfortunately.

For $3 worth of fun, get a reversing ring and mount it backwards on another lens or even directly on the camera. Instant super macro!

Oh well...I was hoping that an adapter could be had for cheap somewhere. I didn't expect it to be anything stellar for the price paid but I was holding out hope that I could actually get it on my camera and play around a bit.

The flange distance for the Minolta MD mount is less than that for the Canon EF and EF-S mounts, so in order to adapt this lens you would need to modify the lens and put on a Canon EF mount.

If nothing else, I may give that a whirl just for the heck of it :) Thanks for the suggestion.

The 44-2 50mm F 2.0 Helios is also very cheap, and shares the swirly bokeh that the Yashica 50mm F 2.0 shows wide open-btw swirly bokeh does not bother me one bit as I could give three poo-poos about bokeh:)

These old lenses can be adapted to micro-4/3, if you are really intent on using them.

Have you thought about getting one of these:

It's $69 so it'll be $72 to test out your $3 lens :)

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.

I have that same lens from my film days and that's exactly what I did. I mounted it on my 20D for 1:1.Then I reverse mounted it on top of my 100 macro. I think it was more like $9 worth of fun for me though....

...I have the canon mount if your looking for it...
