Looking for lodging suggestions that would be affordable and conveniently located near OSH.

Anyone have a favorite place they'd care to share?

Maybe we could do a "POTN House?"

If you're thinking about going, let's discuss...

I was thinking of going for a first time but it looks like a lot of the hotels within reasonable driving distance are booked.

I am thinking of going this year for the first time but I have a friend that lives about 40 minutes away so my room is covered. I wonder how the traffic will be. If anyone has been there before, chime in.

I'll probably camp as well as that seems to be the only option at this point (driving of course, too expensive to rent a plane). What days have the best acts, the weekend? I'll be only available Friday and Saturday to go.

EAA doesn't have the schedule up yet but I'm pretty sure Saturday would be the day of the big Warbird extravaganza. I'll have to go check the EXIF from my shots last summer and see if that is correct.

Normally the 'big weekend' is well...pretty big. That's when the do the major warbird shows with the pyro and all. I tend to have a little different preference though, I normally go Thursday or Friday before anything starts, and stay through Thrusday or Friday of the show. By the time the weekend rolls around, 20% of the airplanes leave and the population on the airport tripples when all of Chicago, Green Bay and every town withing a 200 mile radius converges on the place.

The days before the show may not have all the action, but it is way more laid back - more just sit under the wing and chat. You don't have to fight to sit right on the line (not over!) to watch the show and the peak of airplane attendance is normally Thursday of the show. IDK, everybody has their own approach. Just use all the time you've got and enjoy it!

Will be there tomorrow!

PM me numbers perhaps and I'll meet some of ya!

This definitely needs to be the year I nail some shots. TB's are doing their practice show so that's usually cool when they do each maneuver a couple of times!

D300 w/ a couple of lenses and flashes.
