What's "very long"?

I just keep hiring students at my work to poorly replace me. The urgent things can scrape by, but other things fall off their desks and I look like a God when I return and clean up the messes ;)

But seriously, I worked for 6 years before my first week off, and it was great. I have 2 2-week vacations book for 2010 (and Feb of 2011), which is more than I've ever taken off in a year, before. I get 4 weeks and 2 days of paid vacation a year, plus whatever I bank through overtime.

Now if by "big", you mean "2 months", man, I wish I could do that, too. Hoping do to leave with income averaging in a couple years :D

My vacation comes from work travel for the most part. Unfortunately my office enforces "forced vacation" so I haven't been able to accumulate much of anything since I started as they force us to use the two weeks every year during company shutdowns. This will actually be the first year I'll have taken vacation and I'll be in "vacation debt" for a trip to China with my girlfriend (work related but at least I get time off).

btw cdi I found an old photo of your van

And I'd rather raise my child anyhow.

Good for you MrsMcCoy28. There is no other job that's more important.

As for me, I get 6 weeks a year. Last year we took a week to go sking. Then took 3 weeks to go visit friends in MO and TX. Then took another week and went camping at the beach. 1 week was used for misc days here and there. Most I ever took off at one time was 4 weeks.

I also have 1,726 hours of sick leave on the books. :D:D

I also work three 12 hour shifts a week so I can turn 4 vacation days into 16 days off.

I wish I had your schedule.... That must be nice.

Thank you! That's how I feel! I am fortunate that my husband feels the same way. :D
