Right now im using a Crumpler 7MDH, this bag fits most of my gears, i just wish it has a laptop area for my 15.4" MBP. i love how comfortable it is and the material inside.

anybody have any suggestions?

most of the bags i checked out on cambags.com that will fit 1d and 15" laptop comfortably are backpacks. backpacks dont looks very professional when carrying to work.

Thanks.

The Think Tank "Urban Disguise" series has several good looking shoulder bags which will hold your MBP and camera gear.

Yeah, the UD50 or UD60 are your best bets. The UD60 is a tad bigger than the UD50 but still manageable if you do get it.

thanks guys, i have looked into that. doesnt look like the 1d can fit inside the camera bag comfortably with a lens attached with a laptop in the compartment. i think it can fit comfortably when lens isnt attached to body. i saw pictures of it bulging.

i would probably go with a UD60 if anything. looks very well constructed like the 7mdh.

I use my small-size Tenba messenger for my 15.4 inch MacBook Pro. It will also comfortably accommodate my 1D3, 24-70 and 50/1.2. That said, the ThinkTank while more a shoulder bag than a messenger is nevertheless a better bag. It'll take a 70-200 as well in place of the 24-70.

Good hunting

Thanks houston1863, ive been contemplating back and forth with these 2 bags (tenba messenger or UD60)..i think the tenba is more narrow and probably wont be able to squeeze much gear in it without it bulging too much. but that is the size i like because its more of a messenger bag style. the UD series is like a thick messenger, like you said a shoulder bag more.

right now in my 7mdh, i have:

1dm2 with 24-70L attached
70-200 f4L IS w/ hood reversed
85 1.8 w/ hood reversed
tamron 17-35 hood aside
nikkor 60 2.8 macro
580ex
small rocket blower
stofen diffuser
rf602 wireless trigger (1 transmitter 1 receiver)
microfiber cloth
kata reflex-e neckstrap
B&W 77mm filter
B&W 67mm filter
spare cf card

this would be my typical casual outting bag. i probably could leave some lens at home, but i dont want to feel like 'i could've gotten that shot if i had x lens'. i also carry my laptop with me as well and right now im carrying 2 bags.

My friend

I just saw your new post and indeed your previous one.

That is quite a lot of gear. Do you need the 24-70 mounted? The nice thing about the UD is that it holds two bodies in the front pockets very well so you could place your 1D in one of them and the flash and transmitter in the other. The Tenba doesn't offer such an option/configuration.Your filters in their cases could go into the side pocket, leaving the interior of the case for your lenses, rocketblower and MacBook Pro. The UD also comes with a wallet for your cards and a rain cover, both of which are not included with the Tenba. The UD has a set of spare velcro's dividers which facilitates configuration of the interior of the bag. My impression about the UD is that you can and are encouraged with confidence, to use every available space in the bag. IMHO it is also easier to carry either on or across your shoulder or via the handles. TBH having discovered Think Tank, my saved pennies will go to more of their products when the need arises.

Hope this helps

Thanks Houston1863 for being so helpful.

in your opinion, do you think the UD60 can pass as a casual carrying bag or would it be too big? i will be using it for school and work as well.

i know the UD70 is huge and probably not a fun bag to carry as an outing bag.

Well I think so Mr Breaka

I use a UD40 since I don't want to carry my MBP around and would have thought a UD50 would be sufficient for your needs. Of all the bags I have used, the UD is the least camerabag-looking camera bag I have ever had the pleasure to use. The dimensions are also very compact which makes for ease of carry too I expect. Access to all parts of the bag is quick. That Think Tank products were designed by pros would have contributed to it I imagine.

Hope you find the bag you like

oh ok. you said you have a small size tenba messenger? the large messenger seems like it will barely fit the 1d, do you have any pics of that setup?

Cheers pal

Does your MBP fit in your 7MDH without the dividers? If so, have you tried combining the 2 largest dividers that usually go perpendicular to the bag and make them go parallel so that it creates a divider between the laptop and the rest of the interior where your camera gear would be? I managed to fit the following gear along with my laptop in just the main compartment by doing this. I have a 5D2 so your 1D may/probably won't work for you though. I can post pics if you are interested.

1. Laptop (Lenovo T61)
2. 5D2
3. 70-200 f4 IS (on camera or not)
4. 24-105 f4 L
5. 50 1.4
6. 58mm & 77mm CPL
7. Tamron 1.4 teleconverter
8. Wireless Shutter release
9. Cables.

C & C is always welcomed.
