We need a poll for this! Or at least people should post single numbers, to make it easier to scan...

I have a total of 16.

CF: 2x SanDisk 4GB, 1x Kingston 8GB and SD: 1x SanDisk 8GB. Oh, and a Canon 16MB SD card from an older P&S  So I have 24GB total. Most I've ever shot in one day was 16GB, back when I only had the two SanDisk 4GB's! Since I've had the 8GB combo, I've not even come close to filling them.

(1x32 + 2x16 + 1x8 + 2x4 + 1x1 + 1x0.064 + 2x0.08) GB

So that's 81.08 GB over 10 cards (although it's only the three big ones that come out with me. And there are probably a few more cards hidden away in various draws and bags.

My policy is to have a much card space as I am likley to fill in one day shooting, plus a little extra. Thus far I've never fully used all the memory card space I have. Of course what camera and how you shoot will greatly determin this amount - a 5DM2 will eat up memory space a lot quicker than a 300D == especailly if you shoot in RAW mode.

For me on a 400D camera body:
Two 4GB Sandisk
One 2GB Sandisk
One 2GB Fuji - this card is one I just picked up quick when I did run out of space (memory is cheap - but not a highstreet prices) and was before I got the 4GB options.

The speed of cards is also important - the Fuji for example I can tell when its in the camera because its write speed is slower and my FPS does decrease on a longer burst when I use it. Thus its my final card to be used. Oneday chances are I will replace it, but no major pressure at present to do so.

Sadly I've only around 10GB space left on my harddive......got to do a big junkout and get a new internal drive at some point (and here I thought I would never ever fill a 500GB harddrive!)

Tools of the trade: Canon 400D, Canon 7D, Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS L M2, Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 OS, Canon MPE 65mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro, Tamron 24-70mm f2.4, Sigma 70mm f2.8 macro, Sigma 8-16mm f4.5-5.6, Raynox DCR 250, loads of teleconverters and a flashy thingy too

Here's a pic of the cards I managed to dig up. Amazing to think that the newest is 4,000 time the size of the oldest.

I have a ziplock bag floating around here somewhere with a bunch of those 8MB starter cards. I didn't count them because they're useless for the cameras I have now. Maybe they would bring something on eBay as "collectibles". ;)

5D2 + 7D both shot in full RAW+JPG. I also rent the 1D on occasion. I've shot as many as 5000 images on a two day trip so I need that many. The 2GB and 4GB are mostly older cards that I keep for around the house. I've nearly filled them up a couple of times including my last trip to CA, I was down to the 4GB and 2GB cards.

Was this for an assignment or for pleasure? I have to wonder how many of those images were usable and how many were actually processed.
