18 for my 1000D and 12 for my 30D. Honestly, I don't think I have ever shot more than 6GB in one day. Thats a load of images at 8 and 10MP! :)

we have 348.5GB of CF cards
typically only carry 16gb and larger cards (the other ones have been used alot, and i worry about their reliability (even though they are rated for 100,000 read/write cycles per bit of solid state strage, have have only been written on maybe 2-3000 times)

cards wear out so we buy newer better performers every 6months to a year.

64gbx2 (90mb/sec 600x)
32gbx4 ((2) 25mb/sec 166x (2) 35mb/sec 233x)
16gbx4 (30mb/sec 200x)
8gbx3
4gbx8
2gbx2
256mbx2

Why do you have a fear of hard drives?

You've never had a drive crash? Your images are much safer on memory cards. I've had drives crash within days of installing them.

1 x 4gb, 1 x 8gb. Only time I ever filled them both up was over a 5 day trip in Los Angeles. I bought the 8gb when I was there.

No. Never had an issue with a drive. Ever. No matter what the brand (though I prefer WD).

You'll be overpaying. Severely. I love and trust Sandisk, but they got out of hand with their new lineup pricing. Guess that's why everyone's picking up the 8GB Ultra's from Costco for $27.

They have gotten crazy in prices but all flash memory has been going up since it bottomed out at the end of 2008. Even stuff like DDR2-800 1GB sticks have gone way up. I get by just fine with the SanDisk EX3s, they can keep their exotic cards.

I have about 20GB in CF (for my two 30Ds) and around 40GB in SD (for my G9).

The reason for the tons of SD is I got them screamingly cheap (80% off a couple of 16GB Kingston cards, couldn't pass them up) and I wanted to have a lot of room for videos when I go on trips.

Oh...and I've NEVER had a harddrive (internal or external) crash on me.

One 16GB Extreme III for movies.
50GB of other "slower" and more affordable brands (Kingston, RiData, Transcend).

I do not think 5DII movie require card as fast as Extreme III. I do not see any difference in performance between that and 16GB Transcend/RiData that cost four time less. Am going to find out if faster card makes a difference for bif or if 30D will be bottleneck.

oops ... forgot about 20+GB (2GB and 4GB cards) of SDs for my wife's P&S - she doesn't believe in transferring to computer in a timely manner :(

Unfortunately I have only 8GB total. 2 Sandisk Ultra IIs. When ever my next big trip is, I gotta get another card. So far, 4GB has been enough for my shoots. The only time that I've gone close to maxing both cards was durning an airshow. Granted that I own a 40D the images sizes are only 10MB or so for each raw image.
