Everyone (Lastolite, QBox24) seems to have the same problem with their bracket: It is too short when adding the PW AC5 foot with the PW FlexTT5 to the Canon Speedlite. It would be great if the bracket handle can be extended a couple inches longer. This DIY should do the trick.

Here is what I did for my Lastolite Mark II bracket.
[I don't have the QBox24 dimension but it should be the same concept]

===============
Materials need:
One small Acrylic Sheet 1/4" thick
One small Acrylic Sheet 1/10" thick
4 screws
===============
http://www.kennyana.com …am/823297558_uhhCj-X3.jpg (external link)

(A) 6.25" L x 0.75" W x 0.25" H
This piece starts from the edge of the ring and goes 2.5" beyond the Lastolite handle.
(B) 3.50" L x 0.75" W x 0.125" H
This acts as a filler which goes inside the Lastolite bracket groove (shown in green) which helps the longer piece (A) to rise up to the same height as the Lastolite handle.
(C) 2.50" L x 1.25" W x 0.25" H
This piece starts from the end of the Lastolite hande and goes 2.5" beyond the Lastolite handle.

Step 1) Drop piece (B) into the bracket groove
Step 2) Line up long piece (A) on top of piece (B)
Step 3) Put on clamp and drill 2 holes from the black handle through piece (A) and piece (B)
Step 4) Line up piece (C) with the end of piece (A)
Step 5) Put on clamp and drill 2 holes through piece (A) and piece (C)

What nice about this design is that I can slide all the way in or slide all the way out as if it is one long handle.

Here is what it's looked like with the 580EX + the AC5 foot shoe + the FlexTT5

Easy as pie right? So get to work.
Show us your mod with the Lastolite Ezybox or QBox24 bracket.

Kenny,
Nice mod. The difficulty with the Q bracket is that the rail is extruded metal. That makes it more difficult to build an extension the way you did for a plastic bracket.

Looking at the bracket it should be possible to add an extension to the top of the vertical.
That lowers the channel to provide additional length without having to find a similarily extruded channel.

Could you or someone take some close-up photo of the bracket?
I may have some idea.

Kenny - thanks for taking the time to work that out! It's amazing to me though that Lastolite didn't have the foresight to make their bracket handle a bit longer.
