My daughter and four of her friends had a joint Sweet 16 birthday party. I set up a backdrop and strobes and shot portraits all night. One of the parents wants to submit one of the Five-Girls-Portraits to the local paper.
I'm an amateur, so I don't have those forms handy. We're all friends and I wasn't paid for this event. I want her to have the rights to print and publish as many copies of these photos as she wants. I want to retain ownership of the copyright and RAW files. She can publish to personal web pages such as Facebook or MySpace, but not photo sharing sites such as Flickr, SmugMug, or Photobucket. These photos cannot be submitted to any contest or humor blog (Failblog, Photobomb, etc).
I've attached a sample of the photos I shot so you tell me if she'll run into trouble at the local drug store printer.
Just an FYI for the professionals out there: No, I didn't eat anyone's lunch on this shoot. Hiring a professional photographer was never an option during the planning stages. I decided to pack up my studio kit just two days before the party. Most of the parents didn't know I was doing this until they showed up and saw that I had taken over a spot in the reception hall.
