I can relate to that. As I get older my eyes aren't getting any better. Bigger is better! My 27" dwarfs my 19" which I used to think was a larger monitor.
If you do get a new monitor I recommend a HDMI, You won't regret it!
Other than the monitor, the ATI Radeon HD graphics display card in my PC Makes a big difference as well, especially since the HDMI monitor would be sensless without it.
The amount of dedicated memory and the bits/pixel make it possible to see thing you couldn't on others. It really shows things in pictures you don't otherwise see.
