any tips, anyone? (also..... I have no idea how to (or, if it's possible) change the color of the slide so it's less obtrusive to the photo....

Great pics!! I'm not a pro, but these are my suggestions... I think the color of the slide is great, wouldn't change it! :) If you work on PP I would attempt to bring up the color of everything else to make the rest of the picture really pop. Try to make the skin tone warmer, orange of the shirt brighter, grass greener, etc. DOF really makes a difference in a picture too, I would try to retake the picture with a smaller DOF to blur the background and really make the subject stand out more. Again, great pics!!

Skin tone is a touch cool for me, but I like it really saturated and most don't.
