POTN Nifty Fund

Well, after my recent success at separating people from their hard-earned money for a good cause, I have another (much less) serious cause. Some of tho may have heard about the "Where's Nifty" threads. There is a serious backlog of folks in the US & Canada that would like to host Nifty and it will take (literally) years to get through the list at the current pace.

Folks have been kind enough to donate Nifty's in the past (Belmondo has given two) and we've had some lost and others broken. Since no individual has been willing to part with a full Nifty, I figured we could start up a little fund to raise some money to get another one (or more, who knows) in circulation.

I figure that we can just split the current list like a zipper (every other person on a separate list) when we raise enough to get another Nifty. Or we could just keep the current list and have the people hosting Nifty make sure to keep it going through the list.

But anyways, I'm not in charge of the Nifty thread (and don't want to be! ). I'm just trying to raise some cash to get another Nifty to circulate.

Once I am close to having enough ( I will cover small shortfalls) for a new Nifty (Currently about $100) I will post in the Nifty thread and contact the next person on the US list. I will then order a new Nifty from Adorama and have it shipped straight to that person.

Please note. Donating to the fund will not get you moved up the list or grant you any Nifty privileges.

I am buying the Nifty from Adorama because of their great prices, free shipping and the kind donation that they made in the BucketMan situation.

I am going to leave the ChipIn page up for 1 month at a time. If we raise $150, I'll buy one Nifty and then solicit more donations. If we're still too far away from another Nifty after that solicitation for me to make a comfortable personal donation, I will donate the remainder of what is left in the fund to POTN.

I set $200 as the target for now (hoping to get a couple of Nifty's!), but that can be exceeded and changed if needed.

The counter doesn't work all that well with Firefox. It seems to work fine with Opera and IE. It does take 5 minutes or so to update though.

I believe it works just fine if you clear your cache though.

ah, cool, i just loaded it in IE and it shows a change. it's not much, but i just got done paying for an ER visit for the daughter and a speeding ticket (unrelated) so feeling a lil strapped.

Well, this hasn't gone as quickly as I had hoped!

I chipped in since myself and another Canuckian or 2 are hoping to get on the list.

I would donate a nifty fifty if I didn't use it quite so much.

Chipped in myself! Since I missed the last fund and I loved having Nifty. It's a bit emotional but he came into my life at the perfect time when I was getting out of a bad marriage and starting my life with the person I was always meant to be with and nifty was there to capture it all. Got me back into photography, I was kinda being a bum about it.
