What would you recommend in helping find what is up there and where to look? What it should like when you find it etc....?

Hi Lloyd,

I have heard very good things about the book Turn Left At Orion. It assumes you are a beginner and guides you up to an intermediate stage, with lots of pictures and advice. Should be available online and probably at local book stores too.

For up to the minute info about what's up there where you live, I highly recommend a good piece of planetarium software like Cartes du Ciel (which is free). Some people prefer Stellarium, which is also free, but I've tried it and don't find it as useful as CdC, though it is prettier.

Don
