Here are a few photos I took last night of my boys. I am just learning OCF and experimenting a bit.

I am using a 580 ex for fill on the camera. My 430 ex shooting into and umbrella camera right. The umbrella is about 15-18 inches above the boys hopefully illuminating their faces. It is not an expensive kit, got it off amazon from cowboy studios.

580 is on channel A, 430 is on B.

The ones with the blue background are simply a sheet I hung up, please excuse the wrinkles and the spaghetti face. My boys have been modeling for me and have been great. And excuse the action figures as well

Any suggestions or recommendations would really be appreciated. My son makes his first communion in a month or so and I want to take his photos. A personal thing for me and I am trying to learn and expand my skills and enjoy some time with him.

I am noticing some dark spots on the top of their heads and I don't really know of a way to get rid of that with only 2 lights. Should I add a third light as a hair light?

I have not touched FEC yet as I am trying to illuminate their faces and get a proper exposure. I am sure some FEC would help in this regard. I used a custom WB last night and did a little PP on these before putting them up.

Thanks for the feedback.

Scott

Sorry for all the examples, but I wanted to give as many as possible. If additional info is needed, ask and I will reply as soon as I can.

Not sure why the shoot through umbrellas is causing that black spot on the head. Is it the shadow from flash head? Can you post the setup shot.

Since you only have two light I would get a reflector or some white foam core. The images look well lit, but on the dark background its good to have a hair light or back fill for separation. I'm not a pro but that is what I would do.
