One of my best friends since childhood is building a new website for his recording studio Weston House Recording (external link). They were planning on using a cheap point and shoot to get their pictures. After seeing some of my work and talking to me they asked me if I would be willing to take the pictures for them.

So, I am trying to get some advice from all of you as far as what ,if any gear, I might need. All of my gear is listed in my signature. I am wondering if I should rent any lighting or other lenses. The lighting in the studio is very bad. It is very dim with spot lights everywhere. No even lighting whatsoever. Think high end steak house or intimate coffee shop.

I would really appreciate any advice you all may have. I am more of landscape photographer so doing interior shots of a difficult subject should prove interesting.

Juan

I try all of your lenses and experiment. It's not like you are shooting a wedding where you need fast aperture or IS or USM, you can set up your lenses on a tripod and take your time. Use live view and play with the available light.

I've done a little shooting around recording gear and people...

Type of result you can get on a tripod and exsisting light for gear itself:

Type of result you can get with some added flash and gels on people and gear:

Just offering some ideas. Good Luck with the shoot! :D

Take that Sigma 10-22 with you. When I do an indoor shoot I find that a few wide angel shots are good to get. Not saying shoot the entire thing wide but get a nice balance.
